The Bad Karma team will be participating in Operation Lion Claws again this year and as always I will have my M109A3 there as well as Bad Karma's M35A2 for troop carrying. Unfortunately we won't have the Captain's HMMWV this year since he is currently deployed in Afganistan.
The event is...
Agreed, would be simpler and cheaper to just build a museum annex where the rock was, but it was in Riverside County and I doubt LA County wants to pay to build a museum there.
And no one in LA County wants to drive to Riverside to see a rock.
Actually, the pyramids were not built by slaves. They were employed by the government (Pharroh) and worked and lived at the building site. Been a long standing myth that it was slave labor.
Well, if it is for the LA County Art Museum, I'd bet that wasn't private money. Actually, just found out the move of the rock (estimated at 1.5 mill) is being taken care of by private donations. The total project is expected to cost between 5 and 10 million, no idea if all of that is private...

Recreational Vehicles
A recreational vehicle is defined as any motorhome or housecar, travel trailer, truck camper, or camp trailer with or without motive power designed for human habitation...
Wasn't suggesting that you weren't going to make it a housecar, only that there is more to the issue than just paperwork. Don't want others reading this thread to be mislead and think this is just a paperwork loophole.
Here are the requirements:
Housecars must contain permanently-installed...
You do know that while simple to file as a housecar, you need to have actually converted it to such. If you get stopped and it is not permanently altered for human habitat then expect it to be impounded and being charged violating the vehicle code.
Yea, I was surprised at the lack of issues I had registering the M109 as a housecar. If you do the work, fill out the forms, and of course pay the fees, then it is pretty straight forward.
Note of caution: My M109A3 has been actually converted into a housecar, the build thread is linked in my...
California only required the housecar form be filled out and signed. No inspection was done (however all the work was done and the vehicle is an actual housecar by the definition), so I wouldn't have issue had they wanted to inspect it.
The DMV lists "a 3 axle vehicle weighing 6,000 lbs gross or less" and "Any housecar 40' or less" as two seperate entities. And this follows what I was told by the DMV when I asked if my class C was good for driving my housecar which is a 3 axle M109A3.
Remember, a housecar is not a vehicle as...
A Class C license is good for driving any RV under 40 feet in length even if it has 3 axles.
A Class B is required for any RV over 40 ft but less than 45 ft.
Glad you got it all worked out. I guess I was extremely lucky as I never even took my M109 to the DMV. Just had the local muffler shop do the VIN verification (as he's licensed to do so), filled out the housecar paperwork and they gave me my plates without any hassle at all. They did want to see...
It is a serious upgrade in lighting power by keeping the originals as well. I never liked the look of the A4 lights so it isn't something I would do to mine, but you did a good job with it.
