    WTH, Found a tank today.

Holy Cow! Gotta be an M-60 I believe. That thing looks largely intact, with a lot of original goodies on it! Definitely worth preserving. And they should AT LEAST close the hatch... Man, there's a weird story there...

    Exploding M1009 spare

Most definitely the cumulative effects of the sun. I had one identical to it in the back of my M1009 that had spent 10 years sitting for the US Forest Service. Literally looks like it exploded. Same effect on the mounted tires as well. Great tread, but lumpy and coming apart. Too bad, they were...

USMC Kawasaki KL650A SOLD on GL!

Harley vs Kawasaki I disagree. Harley quality control caught up and in many instances passed the Japanese years ago...

    School me on the "Deuce"

You're doing a great job. Can't believe the a**clowns in management didn't like the first color. I thought it was inspired to match the NPS clothing color (which you did). Also thought it was ludicrous they thought a different shade would make that bad boy "less military." ALSO am not happy they...

    Alternator

Nothing special. They're just really ruggedly built 12v/100 amp units. Also nothing exotic about the isolated ground. It just means you ground them to the frame via a heavy gauge wire from a terminal on the back of the unit rather than by the contact of their housing to the vehicle. No big deal...

    Alternator

Not sure about the relationship of the squeak to the weak battery. But your alternator is a 100 amp mil spec 12v alternator and an alternator test is a simple thing to do or have done. (I presume you have two.) They are expensive to replace new (about 200 bucks) but there's really nothing...

    Chattering GP Relay - Cause?

Yes. Good catch. Embarrassingly, the under dash starter relay was apparently functioning normally. It was my new GP relay that was chattering. I replaced it with an even newer, heavier duty relay which is now doing heavier duty chattering. I still haven't determined the root cause and am quite...

    Chattering GP Relay - Cause?

I sure will! Many, many thanks. But what do you think is causing this? (BTW, I sent you an email on a somewhat related matter we discussed previously.)

    Chattering GP Relay - Cause?

In the last week I've installed two new GP relays in my M1009. The latest is the Borg Warner type. Turn the key, wait light behavior is normal but as light goes out, relay chatters A LOT. Sure would appreciate some ideas. Many thanks in advance...

    Intermittent no start

Many thanks!!!! It would be a bummer to take that puppy out and not have addressed the root problem. I now have some confidence this will more than likely be the solution. best,

    Intermittent no start

Thanks! But given that it is still there (for the next few hours) could it be the source of that intermittent no-start? Could it be the source of chatter at and around starting? best,

    Intermittent no start

Howdy all. Newbie here with an intermittent no start issue on my M1009. It's been carefully converted to 12v per Robeson Equipment Center specs. New starter. Professional installation. All connections rock solid. Ran and started great till this morning when I got a lot of relay chatter under the...

    WC Telephone Maintenance Body WC

Ah-ha. Sorry about that. Now that you mention it, I believe the phone company used these up into the 60s...

    WC Telephone Maintenance Body WC

Hello everyone. I spotted this on San Francisco Bay Area's Craigs List. It's a telephone maintenance body from a WC. Looks amazingly clean and straight. I would think it would be a great find for the right person... *********WWII Dodge WC Military Telephone maintenance utility bed

Sounds like a good one! NorCal CUCVs should get together...

    Where's Your License Plate?

No optimal solutions for this one. I finally bit the bullet and drilled two holes in the left center of the tailgate and filled and wired them with 2 LED bolts. It's clean, simple and does minimal damage. BTW, those bolts are available on ebay for around 15 bucks...

    JLTV in production already?

I believe the JLTV will supplement, not replace, the HMMWV, not replace it...

Outstanding. I knew that design was carefully thought out...

    Homemade trailer

Really clever design with the extended A frame in front of the body. Takes the tool boxes out of the beds and offers lots of alternative strapping place. Great job.

    Long Wait Light. No start.

I guess that applies to CUCV owners as well... Thanks. I needed the laugh.
