A friend of mine used my My M35A3 and put DOT 3 brake fluid in it, and didn't tell me. The fluid in the reservoir is looking strange and I want to change it to DOT 5 as it should be. Do I need to completely blow out (with air) the old fluid, or just push the DOT 3 out with the DOT 5? I don't...
Why not just go ahead and bite the bullet and fix it right. Mine did the same thing. First I replaced all of the air lines and cleaned all of the fittings on the CTIS. then, I bought the O-rings that go around the mounting rim, and the ones on the valve stem. My CTIS now works fine, and the...
I have located a floodlight trailer. I know it is military because I got it from the military in the 70's for our Boy Scout Camp. there are no data plates on it. I saw nother one almost identical to it at the Evansville MVPA Convention. I contacted the owner, and he gave me the informatio off of...
I own the M35A3. Sometimes I pull 2 trailers for our local Boy Scout Council. They own a Field Kitchen trailer and a 500 gal. water buffalo. I tow them together - both empty to some of the remote areas where they have to feed large groups of Scouts. I would like to find a wiring harness, or...
I have aquired this light set. I believe it is a mid-1950's model. Can anyone tell me what it is and possibly the model number, etc? It had the engine, generator, and cord wheels. If it had lights, there are nono on this one.
Well, the picture may not upload because of it's size.
Any way, it...
Gtb
A really good source for whaqt was found for my truck is Jerry Denny at
Raccoon Creek Restorations in Georgetown, IN. Hi did just about all of the work on mine. His number can be found in the classifieds of the Supply Line or you can write a personal not to me and I'll give it to you...
I just typed Sam Werner's name into Google to try to find his website.. Up jumped an obituary about Sam Werner from Tracy, Tennessee that died this past Oct. 20. Please excuse me for asking, but is that our guy or what..
I've looked on the Internet and have not found any of the light kits and mounting brackets. Can anyone give me the names of any companies that may have them?
Did the M35A3's ever have a flashing beacon light on them? If so, hw many, what size pipe was used to hold the light, what kind of brackets were used to mount them to the bed or cab, and how high above the cab or bed cover were they set?
On the other subject of modifying the GTB's by adding another kind of bed, etc. I am not a purist, but I believe that since these vehicles are so rare, I hate to see them modified for other uses. That is just my opinion.
All of the GTB's were lusterless olive drab when they left the factory and stayed the same until after they were commissioned. When they entered service, the Navy painted most of them gray or gray-blue after that. I have heard that the Navy wanted their vehicles to match their battleships. I...
I don't know when they will be done, but I know the buyers will pay one heck of a lot less than I did for mine. Please pass the word to any other owners you know. I'll post again when they are ready.
GTB restoration and making parts
I recently restored a 1943 Ford GTB Bomb Service Truck. If you are also doing so, you are aware of the difficulty in finding parts for them as they are an unusual vehicle and there are not enough of them around for most of the big companies to make parts for...
trailer locks
The ones that will fit through the hole are small in construction. A good hammer would bust one.
I'd suggest that you back your trailer into a light pole or tree, or do the cable thing. Nothing will prevent a real thief.
Huge safety chains and some large padlocks are my only...
