I'm an engineering masters student researching WMO for use in Diesel generators. I'd like to dig up old DoD research when the multifuel engine was designed. I welcome any and all comments of experience, but I'm specifically looking for citable sources. I realize some of it may not have been...
I stumbled upon Dayton Capscrew this morning. They had the 1"-8 hardware I needed for my MRAP wheel adapters for a staggering deal. Half the price of Fastenal and Grainger. Then they referred me to a local machine shop two doors down, Fries Machine & Tool, for custom u-bolts. Outstanding...
This has been an outstanding source. I've read every detail of this site over the last year in preparation for this build, but I only saw a photo of the lift block material stock and the u-bolts. I don't think he talked about what sizes they were. And I'm sure it varies a little depending on...
I hear ya. I love both. I also have a stock 1970 that I'm restoring to Vietnam vintage. It will be a tribute truck for parades and shows. I understand there are die hard fans on both sides of this hobby. You'd probably really like my resto. My mom painted my tailgate by hand for me. Check...
Good luck to ya.
Jerry was showing me his fuel rail mod in his 932. Looked pretty slick. He was buttoning that up saturday night to make sure it was ready for the trip to Cincy sunday. Guess he was happy with the results.
Thanks, gimpy. I heard someone else mention this tonight and wasn't sure what they meant. I was just planning on drilling new holes for the 105 spring hangers. So what you're saying is others cut the whole section of 105 frame that the springs are mounted to and just stick it right up under...
Getting ready to build my A2 bobber over turkey day weekend. I have almost everything I need. Still need to purchase some hardware including u-bolts, some steel stock for lift blocks, and bolts for my MRAP wheel adapters.
So how much height do I need between the M105 springs and my rear axle...
The flyer says primitive campsites available. Anyone got more details on those? My M105 has a bunk in it and I'd prefer electric. Everyone's definition of "primitive" is different. Also, are dogs allowed?
If not, what's a recommendation for nearby campgrounds/RV parks?
Understand that you can use gaskets dry, but what I meant was why do you need a gasket at all when you can just use a high-temp liquid sealant? Will a liquid sealant break down faster than a replacement gasket set? Will it stand up to the expansion/contraction cycle demand? I'm trying to...
Somewhat related... I was just passing through the area yesterday in my deuce on the way back to Dayton. I took a stretch of US40 I hadn't been on before. As I was passing through the town of Straughn, I saw a man working on a "militarized" CJ-3. He also had a M109 deuce and a 1940s Harley...
Did a 464 mile road trip this weekend. Towing an M105 with tarps on and an approx 1500lb payload, I averaged 8.5mpg. 100%WMO for the first 250 miles, then I topped off the tank with No.2 Diesel. EGTs cooled off about 25-50 degrees, but I didn't notice an economy improvement.
I bought a new vinyl one from the John Johnson company in Detroit this spring. $550 + $30 shipping.

Would buy again.
I just moved to Dayton. I've been meeting new friends from the Ohio Motorpool. I'm pretty excited about this event. Sounds like we're going to try to get a small convoy put together for it!
Warthog, why not RTV? Excuse my ignorance...I'm just learning here. I have a leak similar to what you're describing and I thought I would just use RTV to re-seal it. But your comment has me thinking. Could you explain what you mean please? Thanks.
