I concur. About 1/4 cup of oil came out when I pulled the axle flange off. There is no visible oil leaking into the brake drum. Both seals are good. I'm not taking any chances. Going to pack those bearings all the way around.
I guess I have to remove the rear propeller shaft to isolate and spin the rear hubs? I'm changing out tires, so I have tires off on both sides of the rear axle.
They did not seem to be too tight. I assume you set the bearing tension the same way you do on the 800 series truck? I'm haven't gotten that far in the TM on hub & bearing maintenance for the 939 series. I've read the brake PM, so that is the first thing I will check in the morning. Should I...
There is an outer seal. Everything looks the same as my M818. Will it hurt to lightly pack this side with grease to see if the temperature goes down? I mean very light application.
Wow! So they are oil bath... So does differential oil travel down the axle shaft? I guess my question is... how does the oil move out to the hub and bearings?
There is no visible grease on the outer bearing? Dang? I guess the only thing keeping this hub going was the gear oil that spilled out when I remove the axle. No sign of any burning or metal residue. I've got to review the 939 TM for hub removal. I have done 800 series with hydraulic brakes, but...
Thought I would ask for diagnoses advice, but I will search the forum for any threads related to possible cause for excessive heat difference on one hub. My right rear hub is much hotter to the touch others. All others are normal. At this time I have the axle removed, ready for the inspection of...
Looks like your cab structure is gone. You can rebuild it, or replace the whole cab. Patching with filler or tin steel is not going to work. I bet your electrical is in bad shape too. I would find a truck in better condition and use this one for backup parts. Sorry!
I restore and fabricate for hobby and enjoyment. There is no time schedule, that would ruin the total experience. I buy new sets of parts when it makes sense for me. I will make my own parts if I need too. Like shock-absorber pins (see pics). See anything special about the cab? I could die...
My thoughts and methods
I've been reading some of the new and old threads. Gosh, methods for metal preparation are many and varying depending on paint type and thickness you are trying to remove. Basically, I use two methods, scaling and blasting. The needle scaler is my main stay method. Sand...
Thanks Triple Jim. Doing a good referb of my MEP 003 is in the project pipeline. I had to make new injector lines for it after I bought. A couple of them were slightly touching the engines cooling fins and rubbed hole in them. I will keep you regulator in mind.
Right. Maybe this topic is kinda like adding a turbo to the NHC 250. You can experiment and do it, but the cost vs. benefit is not that great. So, concerning my situation and my MEP-003a, probably best to use the 120/240 single phase method unless something or some power configuration need...
I believe what you are describing is what I'm talking about. I believe the 3 phase transformer is what I priced at around $2500. It's a big transformer if you want 30 amps at 240 out. It's been over a year since I researched what I might need. In the beginning, I thought I was going to scrounge...
I do have military split-pack HVAC unit. The condenser has a mounting flange that is made for tractor trailer mounting. Looks like a refrigeration unit. The air handler is a rack mount unit. It will do 208/220.
Sorry, my bad! :-o I mean rated for 220/208. I was thinking either/or. Configurable or switch-able would apply to a welder or power supply. I do have two industrial motors that handle either voltage. I will have to look again, but I believe there is a wiring diagram on the data plate. I don't...
I like the idea of running in the native three phase mode for maximum generator efficiency, but is that really a factor here, or now days? So, I know I'm good running at 120/240 single phase 99% of the time, but lets say I have have some motor loads in the shop requiring 208v or 220v...
I have a MEP 003A. I believe most of the military generators have three power configurations.
120V single phase
120/240 single phase
120/208 three phase
You "must" select 120/240 single phase if you are hooking it up to a house or panel box "bus" wired for single phase. There are only three...
