I hope to be where you suggest before I get frozen in for the winter. I've seen the bend and impact tests demonstrated. Coupon supply depends on what I can scrounge from the local garage's scrap bin for now.
I've gotten as far with amps as striking the arc on 1st scratch, keeping the arc...
Bump. I've learned a lot from this thread and a couple like it. I've been interested in getting into welding for 2 - 3 years, and things have picked up considerably in the last 6 weeks.
I want to mention some great advice from RustyStud, who recommended making friends with an OA torch from the...

I made one and used an extra master cyl cap I had. Works great and it's Soldier A-only.

OK: Found 'em. One is the US TM. Note the tailgate on the ground. I believe that the other 2 are the Canadian versions. I really recommend doing Google images for more info.
If a moderator wants these in the TM section, I leave it to them.

The cable does attach to the pintle but you do need to remove the tailgate. If you fish around for photos via Google, you'll find that the Canadians had a very good adaptation through a hole in the tailgate as well as several other approaches to bracing. I'll dig around and see if I can find...
I have an NOS Air-O-Matic for an M35 that I can bring Saturday if I've got serious interest. It's a heavy box.

I've got a deal on an M200 with mounted boom, but it hinges on transport from Fredrick, OK to NNJ. Departure and arrival dates can be flexible. I can also make a part-way trip if someone can get it back east a good deal of the way. Could be a tow or haul. Yes, I've been trying UShip but so...
I'm convinced that unless you buy the absolute top-drawer mfrs, you'll be left down.
Craftsman, for example, is no longer Craftsman. I bought a set of tubing wrenches from them because my buddy's old ones were wonderful. My set didn't even clear the tubing. A $48.00 return. Couple weeks...
I actually used those Ford rims briefly on my 101 and my buddy has them now on his M116a3 frame. As for the heights, got it. I guess all the 16.5s are the same when it comes to sealing on the rim (can't remember the term.)
Steve
The HMMV rims would raise it and I want lower. I haven't found a clear statement, but I'm starting to think that all 16.5 tires and rims are interchangeable. I had a pair of Ford 16.5" on 8 lug pickup rims a while back. I just don't know the 1061 rim at all.
Thanks.
