Thanks... yes.. it took about 4 hours all together... I think an hour or so would be about right for the second time...
I got the kit from a private seller... I am selling my extra on ebay...
I think the former owner had a case of Budweiser and a gallon of John Deere green in the same place at the same time.... Fixing that wheel color is on the list!!!
Ever heard the saying that 'It is better to be lucky than good'???? Well.. it was soooo true for me today... was out front playing with the deuce when my friendly neighbor walks over... he says some nice things about the truck and then casually mentions that he was a mechanic working on M35s and...
After much cussing and moaning.. got the convoy lights on and working!!! Will be be posting a scanned copy of the instructions and my personal 'tips' in the tips section... so maybe the next guy won't end up doing everything twice to get it right!! LOL!!
Plus... beast that they are, they are just plain COOL to drive!!! LOL!!
yes.. everything is BIG and HEAVY... but, you can get at everything... no jack needed to get under it... and there are no EXTRA do-dads to break... a perfect example of form following function!!!
Well... the outside handle on the drivers door no longer retracts the bolt and opens the door... pulled the handle and the shaft does not show any wear... your thoughts???
BTW.. I owe everyone here a six pack!!!
OK.. I have searched everyway I can think of... the machine has out smarted me... someone had very nicely posted a list of the TMs I should have for the Duece.. and now I cannot find it... Could someone please post the list or a link....
And on a related note... I hate electronic manuals... so...
Got idle set to 800... much smoother... fiance said "Did the engine get quieter?"... now has 20 psi oil pressure on the mechanical gauge at idle when at 190F on the water temp gauge..., 25 psi on the in dash gauge... no more or very little knock noise now... have (I think) uploaded a quick time...
I have ordered a oil analysis kit and will do that next... What TM has the idle speed setting instructions???? And what is the correct idle speed? Anybody?
Well... the saga continues... The oil does not feel diluted or smell like diesel... got a generic pressure gauge and connected it to the sample port... started up (cold, or what passes for cold in Houston, about 90) and had about 40-45 on the generic gauge, 30 onthe gauge in the dash... felt...
I checked it 'pre-start' after it had been sitting a week or so... X owner says shoud be 'full' after 1 to 2 min shutdown and 15 psi hot idle has been normal for his 1500 miles...
