How do I get it for cruse at 65-70mph without over doing the RPMs or straining the engine?
Never gonna happen in a deuce. Find another vehicle if you want fast...
The air compressor on my '83 A2 deuce just started squealing loudly. It's not the belt but it sounds similar only 100 times louder.
No visible damage anywhere, everything else is working fine. It is an older 2 cyl compressor.
I know this is an older thread but thought it would be a good place to...
Tom, thanks for the update! In my case the brackets I bought dictated the compressor placement. I do have a hot water heater but I doubt it will get much use here in Phoenix. (Gonna have to take it somewhere COLD to use it!)
Bob, that's good to hear-won't worry about it unless something happens.
Yellobronc, thanks for the input!
I disconnected most of the pipes/hoses/bolts going through the firewall so I could cover it. Fitting the material in place and cutting holes for pipes, bolts, etc., has been very tedious and...
Bob,
I'm also sealing up the holes (there's lots of them) and insulating with rubber and foam mats. Also replacing all the weatherstripping.
Haven't finished the A/C install but another SS member who saw photos of the belt routing thought we might have problems with belts slipping and not...
Bob, I have the same A/C unit from Boyce but haven't finished the install yet.
How is it working in our Az heat? Air temp, blows enough air? Also, any issues with the belts slipping/ squealing?
Thanks,
Mark
Yes it came from Boyce. It has no markings on it but is 22"x 14"x 1" thick.
If you need any technical details, call Brett at Boyce. There was no information sent out with it.
The connection to the receiver/ drier uses a #6 hose and #8 to the compressor.
Hope that helps!
Mark
Tom, thanks for the belt info. What is different about those belts? After seeing the belt arrangement I am also concerned about the lack of contact. Haven't gotten to use it yet so i'll just have to see what happens.
Lonesome, I have been sealing up all the holes in the cab by epoxying a...
I really had to tighten the yoke down and it was a tight fit, but it works. Here are pics of the brackets for the compressor. They came as part of a kit from Boyce Equipment.
I'm almost finished with my deuce A/C install and I ran into the same spacing problem. I went the simpler route (I think) and got 3 washers with a 1.5" hole in the center. I then epoxied them together with steel epoxy. (I don't weld and was afraid welding would through the "unit" out of...
Today, I received the torque multiplier mentioned by kc2 in his earlier post. I ordered it from lugwrench.biz on Friday.
(Fast shipping!) ($160 incl. shipping)
I got my A2 deuce recently and haven't had any reason to take the wheels off.
After it got here I put on the 1-1/2" socket and...
Yes, they have silicon carbide(wet/dry), aluminum oxide, and garnet.
Box of 50 alum oxide 220grit- 1200 grit is $23.95. ( your choice of grit)
Don't know how that compares with other places but I have used it for years and it lasts much longer than the home depot stuff.
I'm not endorsing this...
