Ouch, looks like that M60A1 is missing a little something from the glacis plate. Whats the story?
The "Ontos" in the 7th photo is an M56 Scorpion. Early versions of the Ontos shared parts of the M56 running gear, but it's a different vehicle entirely. The Ontos is more well known, but the M56...
I think Wreckerman said you can tell your wife it's cheaper than whoring, boozing, and gambling. Or something like that. Seems like a solid argument to me. :D
I've probably read every Army fatal class A accident report over the last 10 years or so and I can't recall an inordinate number of HMMWV rollovers. I can look in the Army accident database to view every HMMWV rollover accident fatal or non-fatal over the last 25 years or so, but I don't need...
A really nice drop side deuce bed was posted for $900 as I recall. But there are probably more deuces out there that need a replacement bed than LMTVs in need of a new bed. Hmmmm, a LMTV bed on a deuce would be pretty neat.
Murphy at http://murphyjunk.net had a PRC-104 and some GRC-193 components posted for sale awhile back. Not sure if he still has them, but there's a good chance he could help. PRC-104/GRC-193/GRC-213 stuff will cost you.
i've seen more than a couple other videos of dudes dunking their MUTTs in SEA. Seems to me those fellas take pride in their US built MUTTs and enjoy testing their abilities off road and in the water. I say more power to 'em. Drive that American steel!
I don't think you'll find much info here about Cummings engines.
I haven't looked into fitting an 8.3 in a deuce myself, but I've seen several good threads on the subject. Just search "8.3 Cummins in a deuce". Here's a good thread...
Nope, but from what I've been able to find, state laws regarding reserved hybrid vehicle parking spaces are vague or non-existent. Pour a little corn oil in the tank and argue its hybrid fuel. Of course I'm not a lawyer and I didn't stay in a holiday inn so your results may vary.
The first photo is the outboard track sections of the T28 super heavy tank bolted together in the towed configuration. The only T28/T95 GMC in the world was on static display in front of the Fort Knox Patton Museum. I'd bet the whole load came from KY.
You'll find most battalion and above units in the Army will have a HQ50 vehicle. That alone will tell you nothing about the history of the truck. HQ50 only means that it was #50 in the headquarters order of march, even then vehicles are not numbered consecutively. You'll find most correspond to...
Tan box or green box? The tan box is the antenna, the green box is the CPU. They antennas aren't even tracked by serial number. Neither are controlled cryptographic items (CCI). As bikeman stated the hard drive (small flat black box) is the only sensitive item if it's loaded with data. Even then...
Great timing. I logged on tonight to ask the same question! I searched the web for a few minutes and found Federal Standard 595C 24052 mentioned a few times. The shade looks right on my screen, but it's difficult to tell for sure.
