Man, I'd be in heaven if I could find and afford an M52A1! Always had a soft spot for the old Macks.
Psywarrior,
Yup, had it all the way open and wasn't working very good, especially on the parade route.
Good looking truck! If it were mine, I'd keep it original, but that's just me. There's fewer of the old gassers around and I'm a sentimental old fart. By the way, awesome avatar. Brings back memories.
Thanks, but it'll obviously only work on a cucv type bumper mount pintle with an under bumper reciever added. An added plus is with fairly close tolerances, it takes up most side to side play.
After reading all 17 pages of this thread, I gotta say you're doing a great job and I agree, "Old people rock" ('cause I are one!) and you're not a bit compulsive.
Hey, I speak from experience! Just had the M54 out today and got all the way up to 35! I've actually hit 45 with the old girl, but she wouldn't speak to me for days afterward!
Good save! You've already got a good start and looks like you're on a roll. BTW, the gas tank for the compressor truck was mounted at the back of the compressor but there was an extra running board on each side behind the cab.
New paint always makes 'em look better! I've only had the paint for mine for a few months so I guess next year should be about right to get at it. By the way, good looking truck!
Just gotta throw my two cents in here. Sounds to me that you'd be way better off with a civy tri or quad axle KW, Mack, Freightliner or Pete and have the power and parts availability you're looking for and keep the MV's for a hobby.
