What brake fluid should be used in the FLU419 for a complete flush and replacement? I thought DOT 5 but reading about the problems people had with this stuff I am beginning to wonder.
Yes, the jack is overkill with 7000# lift capacity but is very cheap ($37.50), the 2.5"x2.5" square body makes it easy to weld-on the rectangular tube extension, and it has enough length to clear the top bar of the loader.
To support the front loader when removed from the SEE, I ordered this jack, welded a 4" long 2"x4" tubing on the bottom of the outer, black tube and replaced the inner 2" square tube with a longer section so that the whole jack is 60" in the contracted position (~40" from bottom plate to top of...
Time for some engine p0rn on the topic of starting and (intentionally) reversing a 6 cylinder diesel engine without a battery:

Aside from the obvious point of choosing a gear that goes in the direction of roll starting (R if you roll backwards), the key to success is choosing a sufficiently high gear. Choosing a low gear will lead to a lot of bucking and possibly a reverse start.
Why not take the ground cable off the battery when you park the SEE until you get the time/motivation to find the wiring fault?
You can also hunt down some cheap, refurbished batteries and built a jump cart that is connected to a charger until needed. Every airport has one of these as a master...
Thanks for the info, Phillip. I guess we need a "mole" inside of DLA, but most likely they don't even know what they are doing.
Meet Feast and Famine, they main characters of Surplus Auctions.
Even if there are hundreds of SEEs sitting in the woods somewhere (that I cannot find on recent sat images), the question is whether and when they will be put on auction. Don't we have anyone at GP/Richie who can shed light on this?
A couple of weeks ago I finally "dug" the main valve out of my Case 1840 skidloader and fixed the float detent for the loader arm. The hours, curses, and skinned knuckles were well worth it. With the loader in the float position and adjusting only the pitch of the bucket, scooping a thin layer...
Sold for slightly over 10k, which seems high considering that most relays are missing, a lot of wires are hanging loose, plus a crappy paint job and some pitted cylinders.
Here is the key on the EI site. (They put it under Pinzgauer)
I would try to get the existing switch to work due to replacement cost and effort. There is really not much complexity inside these switches.
You can feel when the contacts close. The internal spring compresses a little beyond that. Too little pressure and you may get arcing, too much and you may crack the switch housing
The master disconnect can be switched on for testing by pushing a bole into the hole. The dedicated key does the same via cam action of a radial pin.
You can make a temporary key by pressing a bolt or dowel down and marking it through the end of the cam grove. Then, cross drill the bolt/dowel...
Great info about the rim fit of various tires.
How does the 335/80R20 Pirelli Pista PS22 fit on the stock rim? Does anyone have intel on its performance?
What are the PTO speeds in LOW and HI setting (at engine idle)?
I am planning to convert a M35 PTO winch to a hydraulic winch and need to pick the right motor. Thanks.
Thanks for the info. I assumed that the 11.00R20 would take some coercion to seat them on the wider rim. How are they on the road and off-road, like for plowing a field?
After having received my first FLU419 with stock tires, I can better understand FLU farm's disdain for the 12.5R20 Michelin XL. Really not much to write home about in terms of strength or profile.
Did anyone here try the 335/80R20 Pirelli Pista PS22 or the 1100R20 GOODYEAR UNISTEEL G177 16PLY...
Yes, Wes mentioned that he saw several hundreds on another lot. If and when they come to auction is anyone's guess.
Congrats on finding the leaks and getting the brake booster to work.
