Here Almost a forward rollover of a stripped FLU419. Great reaction by the driver.

They do have gravel pits in Germany, where you can rent construction equipment and off-road vehicles for fun. Last year in Bozeman, MT we went to 'Digger Days', a fundraiser where you could tear up some dirt with excavators for $50 admission. It was a sold-out event. There is something deeply...

Maybe not dribbling but seeping over the course of month? If the pop-off valves in the injectors are tight and the IP barrels are not totally worn out, I have seen the 'classic' Mercedes diesel engines with inline Bosch pumps fire at the first turn even after sitting for several years. If one...

Dribbling injectors need to be rebuild. Not only do they cause hard starts but also the blue smoke you often see in FLU419 videos. It would be nice to know a diesel injector shop that ships out overhauled nozzles for the OM-352 in exchange for sending the old ones in later. If anyone has a lead...

My plan was to ride this thing hard and sell the remaining functional pieces to FLU farm if it breaks down beyond repair. If it makes it home, its worth keeping. Who wants to find out that a tool is an unreliable maintenance nightmare while trying to accomplish honey-do tasks. I rather find this...

The seller was way over his head with this machine and is of no help. Considering that the engine is running, the vehicle drives and stops (albeit without HI LO shift and brake boost) and they extended the hoe with the hydraulics I am still hoping to turn this into a usable tool quicker and...

Yes, I am trying right now to find them domestically. Where did you get yours from?

Good point. The video was a walk around with the engine running and I did not notice any hissing near the tanks. But with the small compressor leaks may not be very audible. I am going to order new drain valves regardless of whether the FLU419 will be trucked or gets home on its own wheels.

One of the few things I am now certain about this FLU is that the drains are not going to leak - at least not initially. The seller sent me video showing clearly that the machine is not building up any air pressure. I parallel, Wes offered to pick up and deliver the FLU on his way back from a...

Trying to find a domestic source for the fluid regulating valve (WABCO: 975 303 447 0 MERCEDES BENZ: 14312206 HALDEX: 312013002 KNORR: DR3100) I saw that WABCO part 975 303 473 0 only differs in the pre-set cutout pressure which is adjustable via the allen screw on top of the cover. Below are...

Today's air dryers are much more efficient which led to ADIS (air dryer integrated system) in commercial trucks and the omission of the 'wet' tank.

I woke up last night covered in sweat after dreaming about dissimilar metals, elastomeric seals, and tiny passages in the presence of water, alcohol, rust, and emulsified motor oil. Not being able to fall asleep again I did some searches on German websites and found that the original pre- tank...

Speaking of the expensive and often unavailable parts used to pressurize the tanks: What do you think about removing the 'Fluid Regulating Valve', 'Antifreeze Valve' and 'whatever-not sits between the compressor and tank' and replacing this with a Bendix D2 Governor valve, a reasonably small...

I'll inspect the tank and will try to get as much junk out as I can. With all the fuel system troubles talked about here I am tempted to feed the IP from an outboard tank. When that one is near empty, its time for a break and a refill from the main tank via transfer pump and racor filter that I...

We should definitely use this opportunity to meet in person. The week after Memorial Day is marked on our calendar for this trip. If you are heading to Atlanta in the meantime and want to look at the FLU419, please PM. We look at this trip as mini vacation during which I may retrieve the...

Several feet of the original fuel and air lines plus unions is on my list. Thanks for pointing out where I can source that.

LOL. I will stuff the support vehicle to the roof with items I really do not want to need. First time I tried the ether inflation on my skid loader I had some serious pucker factor. But it is actually a very slick method especially if you use the can as a short burst flame-thrower to keep your...

Any issues with the air system for brake boost and shifter beyond fixable leaks are obviously show stoppers Any electric issues that are apparently very common with these machines I plan to address the following way if troubleshooting according to the TM fails. It takes only one (jumper) wire...

Excellent suggestions. Thanks. Should I try to find a 24V electric in-line fuel pump to prime or to compensate for pinholes? Fuses are already in my kit. They are a sentimental reminder of my long gone 110 series Mercedes. Tires looked fine on photos and videos. There is also an unused spare...

I shamefully admit that I went through the same schools of thought that educated the creators of this marvel of German over-engineering. If I reach the limit of my comprehension and ingenuity than I will consider myself a symbolic sacrifice in lieu of those who should have been punished for...
