Yes you will need to lengthen the arm by about 3 inches if I remember correctly. I removed mine from the valve and cut and spliced (welded ) in a piece of flat bar. Search is your friend on this site. There are many detailed threads with pics regarding this subject.Good luck.
I have a 4 " ORD lift and had to shim my TC crossmember 7/8" downward to get proper driveline angle.I'm running 37" surplus Humvee radials and at 70 mph my Tinytach shows 2310 RPM'S with GV engaged. That to me is a huge improvement and much easier on the 6.2. I still have not figured out the...
Natem is that switch located on the TC? Maybe that is my problem but my dash lite 4wheel drive indicator works fine. I'm assuming by your post you have a GV also and experienced the same situation?
Gprez,I had (have) the same situation with my GV and the 4x4 lockout wire.I tried splicing into both the white and black wire and the unit would not engage.I just left it disconnected at the controller module still spliced into the white wire for the dash lite and don't engage the unit in 4...
Those front fenders are way cool! Looks like you straightened the drivers side eh? That must have been fun.The sheet metal in those trucks will give you a workout! Very nice rig!
I bought a trailer from Mark.Good guy and I dont think he would misrepresent a vehicle. Struck me as a straight shooter.Plus he has been in this surplus business for quite a while now. I drove from S.F. to his shop near Victorville and he had some nice rigs for sale.As far as your road trip I...
Walk away! Unless you have experience with these rigs,I would not buy a non-runner that has not run in how long? Wait and shop around. There are still runners out there for sale at fair prices.Look in the classifieds here. Good luck in your search. These are fun rigs but can be a lot of work. Be...
I had late shifting issues with my 1028 and excessive engine RPM's. MY fix was to start engine, pull rubber hose at modulator, put finger on hose and feel for any vacuum. In my case there was none and the rigid 3/8ths line came off in my hand! Followed line to engine compartment and where the line...
Installed a stanadyne FM 100 spin on fuel filter with 12 V heater unit and petcock ball valve for bleeding system. Easy upgrade and replaced fuel line hose to IP and from lift pump.Should have done this a long time ago. Also fixed worn through vacuum line from IP to tranny.Truck started shifting...
Glad it worked out for you.I bought from a dealer in Texas also, saving 300$. You will love it. Worth the investment. I drive this rig more than my Ram 2500 with all the bells and whistles.
Welcome! You stole that trailer for that price! I paid 3 times that for mine. You will love that trailer. I just hauled 3500 lbs. of oak rounds from my mountain property home to Marin and 0 problems! Surge brake performed perfectly. Did your's come with bows, sides, and cover? They complete the...
Good products, nice guy ( owner), poor shipping and customer service in my experience. Every order I've placed has had some problem with delivery. John made it right every time, but I wish as a buyer I did not have to call every time and ask where is my order? I read a lot of posts on this forum...
I've been running a GV in my 1028 for about 2 years. Only way to go for the highway. I'm getting 17-20 mpg. Only problem on the install was the need to shim by 1 inch the transfer case cross member. Used flat bar cut and drilled to fit. Easy fix, but until I did this I had a bad vibration and...
I posted a similar problem on my 1028. Hard starts, then would run fine.Turned out it was a 3/8ths fuel line from the fuel tank that rubbed on crossmember and wore through a tiny pinhole in the line. Cut line and spliced in rubber line. Problem gone. Check your fuel lines - ALL lines from tank...
As far as bleeding that setup without a mess, how about installing a 3/8ths 90 degree petcock with hose on the other outlet side of the header. I just ordered the same system except with a 150 M prefilter and see through bowl. I'm going to try that for a bleeder.
Try registering the trailer as a home built. I had no SF97 for my M101a2 and in CA. it was no problem. The lady came out to inspect it and said nice job.I said thank you very much and have a nice day. I did not change a thing on the trailer. Done deal. Every state is different. Some don't allow...
I read your thread on the filter upgrade and that will be my next improvement. Thanks for posting such detailed info. Also did you figure a fix for the messy fuel air bleed valve?
Just a heads up for 1028-1008 owners. My 1028 runs great but as we all know these trucks are 26+ years old and require constant upkeep. I started to experience hard start issues. Engine would crank several times instead of 1 crank and immediate start. After start it would surge @ different idle...
