I noticed the turn signal light stopped working for my M1009: the blinking signal light located beneath the headlight on the passengers side.
Is the bulb a 2057 type?
How do you switch out the bulb? It seems to be blocked off.
I tried skimming through the TMs, didn’t find it. I figured I ask...
I’ve asked this before, I have to ask again. Does any one know of any good diesel mechanics in Southern California? I have an M1009 CUCV
I have had nothing, but horrible results with all the ones I’ve already tried. Thank you if you have any info.
In March of 2021 I had the Rear Main Engine Seal Replaced in my CUCV M1009 6.2L. It’s already starting to leak again. Is this normal? If not, any ideas what could have gone wrong? What is the Best Seal I can use this time around?
I recently had the Valve Cover Gaskets Replaced, as well as the...
My Vehicle: 1985 CUCV M1009
I’m fairly certain the gas tank is the stock/original size (that’s a 25 gallon right?)
My Fuel Gauge has started to occasionally stop working. I checked the fuses, etc. From what I understand it can often be a bad connection at the fuel gauge in the dash end or at...
I’m preparing to tighten up and organize the wiring under my dash. Just a quick question: what is this part under the steering column? I think it’s a relay. But for what?
I circled the part, it has Green, Yellow & Tan wires.
Thank you for any input. You guys rock!!

My Front Negative Battery Cable, the end that goes on the battery is stripped out. I’d like to just replace the entire negative cable. Does anyone know the length or have a link to one?
I wasn’t able to find one via Hilly Billy Wizard. They have many different ones at O’Reilys, but I don’t...
I was looking at the wiring (near the Fuel Filter) for my CUCV M1009 and I noticed this a Big Plug. I can see one end comes out of the insulated tubing and goes to the Plug and the other end goes into to the cab (circled near the resistor on the firewall). Where do the wires end up? What are...
What the heck did I do? I was cleaning the plugs for the alternators of my M1009. I accidentally made contact with my tiny screw driver and a plug prong in the alternator on the passengers side. A spark or two flew.
I first checked all of the fuses, none were blown. The Gen 2 Light is now on...
I’ve noticed that when I start my CUCV M1009 up the lights are dim and flicker. The Voltmeter is in the Yellow. The Water in Fuel Light will flash and then the lights and Voltmeter are normal. The interesting thing is the aftermarket Oil Pressure Light seems good all the time. Video from today...
*Update
I believe I was able to repair the socket. I have to verify it works*
I had a real rodeo getting the bulb out of the Voltmeter (It’s likely the original) of my CUCV M1009. On my first try only the bulb itself came out. I had to wrestle with various pliers to get the base of the bulb...
I recently took the dash out of my CUCV M1009. I replaced the circuit board behind the dash, painted the speedometer needle, polished the clear plastic cover, etc.
While I was putting it all back together, the plug that plugs into the back of the dashboard touched a piece of metal and sparked...
While digging around under the dashboard, I found this hanging bulb. It’s hanging down behind the Oil Pressure Gauge which is to the Left of the Voltmeter.
I’m guessing it’s the bulb for the climate control. There’s no light near the climate control. I’m assuming that because the bulb for...
Hello!
I found these two disconnected wires (circled in Red) coming out of the tailgate. I’m assuming they are for the License Plate Light.
Any idea where they go? I’d like to reconnect them, just don’t know where?
Thank you for any help!

My M1009 won’t start, it tries but doesn’t turn over. I replaced the Glow Plug Relay, Glow Plug Card, The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (the sensor at the back of the engine drivers side). Months back I also replaced The Engine Coolant Temperature Switch, the sensor that’s at the back of the...
I can’t get this speedometer working for the life of me!
I have a CUCV M1009. Late last year I had the speedometer cable (provided by the previous owner) and the nylon gear in the transfer case north replaced, because the speedometer wasn’t working when we purchased it.
A month or so ago it...
I noticed the passengers side KC light was out last week. Today I decided to get the part information for the non-working light, assuming the bulb was just bad. In the process I discovered the KC switch inside wasn’t working nor lighting up green. Now neither of the KC lites are working at all...
The crank handle on the tailgate of my CUCV M1009 broke off. Now I can’t roll down the window. I need to roll the window down about an inch so I can lower the tailgate to take things apart to replace the crank handle.
Is there any way to lower the window by hand, etc.?
I appreciate any help...
Hi Everyone,
I’ve been hearing a rubbing/clicking sound from the speedometer area of my dash (CUCV M1009).
The speedometer cable was replaced in December of last year along with the plastic gear with teeth and it’s housing (I don’t remover the name of that part).
You can watch and listen to...
