    Recovery trip - assistance IN-CASE

I am recovering my very first Deuce. I believe that I have things prepared as well as reasonably possible when taking a 35y old truck on a 1200 mile trip. My handicap is: no chase vehicle and no second set of hands. I would like to have, as a last resort, a few fellow SS members I could call...

dropside - side rack and troopseat question

Is there a difference in the sideracks and troopseats between a regular and a dropside bed? Are they interchangeable between those beds?

Took the plunge!! 1974 AMG M35A2w/w coming up

After over three years of lurking, reading, learning and keeping on top of what is for sale where I finally pulled the trigger. It ain't home, yet and I will need your help shortly with some recovery planning. For the time being I am just looking for a way to wipe the ear-to-ear grin off my...

Commonwealth of Virginia - trip permit question

I need to bring a Deuce up from Virginia. I have insurance for it. Many states have one form or other of temporary registration or trip permits that allow a motor vehicle to be removed from the state after a sale. I could no find coherent information about Viginia, other than a three day permit...

    Canada - deuce sighting

I just (as in: one hour ago) drove from Ottawa to Montreal; traffic was so bad, I did not have a chance to whip around, catch up with the truck and snap a picture (so do not give me grief!): A semi loaded with three Canada Deuces was heading towards Ontario on autoroute 40. They all had...

Quick question - dual circuit brakes

Is it likely that a 1986 M35A2C with a VIN starting with 292272 has dual circuit brakes? I thought I had read that the VIN starts with 1040 on the trucks with a dual master cylinder, and that only 1987 and 1988 trucks came with it.

Anybody near Burns Harbor, IN - Deuce to check out

I was looking at something unrelated and came across an active eBay auction. There is undoubtedly a 2.5t truck behind that old MACK cement mixer. Maybe someone feels like rescuing a Deuce? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150251507015&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:CA:1123 Look at the...

Perfectly ok 1989 M35A2C gets broken up

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260210914033&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 I do not think I am misinterpreting the ad. Someone has a latEST model M35A2 that, judging from the pictures, is pristine - and kills it. I just do not get it. Am I somehow weird? It just pains me...

FMTV - you CAN own the predecessor

I just thought I'd post it...the FMTV are based on the Austrian STEYR truck design. Steyr is now owned by the German MAN. Steyr has endless experience in off-road and military truck applications and the Austrian armed forces bought the 12M18 (12 ton, Medium chassis, 180hp) as standard troop...

Multifuel injection pumps and parts from China

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I just came across a supplier and decided to post it. Some OEM equipment to manufacture LDT465-1C components seems to have found its way to China. New or NOS VE pumps are notoriously expensive and this may be useful: http://www.chinahanji.com/ I am not...

    Deuce matchmaking

After lurking for a while, this is my first posting. This is a great web site and I have read a lot. I would like for those that have considerable experience with Deuces to suggest what would be best for me and talk me into or out of stupid things. I like MV and would like to own and drive...
