I continued the "de-pinking" of Pinkie today, it's kind of like an archeological dig! I uncovered Illinois National Guard markings which were no surprise based on the info Carnac gave me. What WAS a surprise were the Military Police markings I found! Carnac found info that it belonged to a...
I have spent an hour on the Googles, and used the search here, and can not find a fuel filter base for my M1009. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have tried oem-surplus.com and they don't appear to list it any more, although their website is the most frustrating thing I have ever...
Does anyone know the thread pitch/bolt size for the fuel can holder pedestal in the back if the M1009? Or better yet, anyone have four spare bolts I can have? I have the can holder and was going to use nutted bolts to secure it but the holes are threaded.
I need to mount a license plate, with a light, on the rear of my M1009. I have seen the thread discussing magnets and Velcro but I need a light. Anyone out there have any photos of your setup? I would prefer to not drill holes in my tail gate but I think that may be the only way to go that does...
I got one of the pink M1009s from Tinker and was wondering, WHY IS IT PINK? I think the correct question is "why did they paint it red?" I know why it faded to pink:) I have been told that range trucks were red, just wondering if any of you ever drove a red truck in the military.
It looks like...
Yesterday, 11 April, was the CAF airshow in Burnet Texas and the Lonestar chapter of the MVPA attended to provide some wheeled MVs to go along with the wing-ed ones. The day was overcast and chilly but turnout was pretty good and a good time was had by all. We were able to muster two jeeps, two...
This Friday and Saturday is a big swap meet and WWII battle at Brent Mullins Jeep Parts in College Station Texas, the swap meet and battle should are reportedly world class, as is Mr. Mullins's collection of armor and jeeps. COME ON OUT!

We are trying to fill out a SF97 request on a XM818 a friend just got from Ft. Sam Houston and we need the year of manufacture. Is it safe to assume that if the "door" number ends in 70 then the truck was made in 1970? Should I wait till the Gridley thread is unlocked and ask Carnac? Should I...
Did anyone here get the cold weather Deuce in Alaska from GL today? It has a some very interesting mods for the cold. If I was in Alaska I would have been a bidder on it, just too cool and unusual to pass up!
I NEED a set of military barracks racks (bunk beds) for the back of my M109 to make it complete, does anyone know where I can get some in the Central Texas area? I want the truck to be furnished entirely with military/government surplus furniture (I want it to look like everything was scrounged...
Anyone know if there is a reason the military paints vehicle interiors that sea foam green color? I don't have a problem with the color, just wondering if there is a reason for it.
OK, I did my first ever mutlifuel oil change yesterday, and learned a few lessons.
1. Around here Tractor Supply is the cheapest place to buy 5gal of Rotella.
2. TSC sells a really cool 12" metal funnel for catching the used oil.
3. An M35A2 with 11.00s on it is almost too short to put that...
I decided recently to look for a M151 (A1 OR A2) to tow behind my Deuces, kind of like a dingy behind a yacht:) but I had a thought: CAN you safely flat tow a M151 (A1 OR A2)? Would you need to stay under 45mph if you did? I don't really want to deal with a trailer because that kind of negates...
I got my EUC clearance 20 minutes after I got home from looking at the truck on Monday, so I had to take the day off Wednesday and go back down there and get her! "Rod" the regular GL yard guy was off so I had to get a guy from the warehouse to go into the lot with me and he wanted to go to...
I am going tomorrow (5 Nov) to recover my M109 from Ft. Sam and need some advice. The truck is a non turbo multi and I don't have any experience with them. Is there anything I should do different from my turbo M35A2? Anything I need to know before the trip? I AM looking forward to not having to...
