Took the M-819 out today, hooked up to the M-270 lowboy trailer and loaded up a 170hp tractor and headed south 30 miles to the dealership. About 75,000 gvw.
About half the way there, I could feel something strange going on, we finally stopped and the smoke was rolling out from the front right...
This is my first CUCV ( maintainence truck) and first 6.2. These things do not have an overdrive transmission and while it is cold it is really noisey. I can take it up to about 55 mph, and then when it warms up it will cruise up to about 65 mph.
You keep thinking it will shift into...
We got the gen-set to operate on our new contract maintainence truck. We brought it up to proper speed manually and it put out the proper voltage.
When we inspected the governor, someone had disconnected the linkage from the gov to the throttle and it is missing one end. However we could...
I have a lot better luck throwing away the 4 6TL batteries and going with 2 Group 31 batteries.
2 group 31's are what is used in most of our ag tractors.
Trying to keep 4 batteries up to par is the pits. Maintaining 2 is half the chore.
Just be sure to secure the batteries properly.
I run 5 -...
Just new to the CUCV series. Is there any place to find a 12v source other than tapping into one side of the batteries ?? Need to install a 2 way radio. Tom
These have been common for the past 50 years in all the trucks. But I need to find a source for the coil door latch springs. There apparently are left and right hand sides.
I keep robbing old parts trucks, but I am running out of doors.
I am sure this has been discussed through the years, but it escapes my memory.
Is there any decent conversion or replacement for the the standard military wiper arms and blades. The origionals sure are a POS.
I just won the bid on the better of the 2 contract maintaince trucks at Hill AFB in Utah. It had about 29,000 miles and picked it up for around $3,000.00.
Reading the post below, it looks like the other guy stumbled into just a little better deal. But this truck is in nice shape and I feel...
Is there any good info out there on shop truck or the clam-shell shop truck bodies ? ?
Do any of you own one, and have any comments ? ? ? Tom @ Snake River
A friend and I went down to Hill AFB where we had bought 4 M-332 ammo trailers for $130.00 each. We hooked 2 each behind a 1/2 ton GMC PU and 2 behind a 1/2 ton van.
Going down a hill in Utah, my friend hit the brakes a little hard, I looked back in the rear view mirror and saw the rear...
Returned today from Hill AFB in Utah where we picked up 4 ammo trailers.
We had a very good experience. Did not talk to the female supervisor, but a young man helped us very nicely, grabbing the forklift and hooking the trailers up and even going back to the shed for some tools that we...
Will bridge truck rims from a M-812 fit on a standard axle ? ? Or are they too deep dished ? ? ? Junkyarddog and others are looking for super singes. I have a full set for sale. Tom @ Snake River
Finally recieved 2 - SF-97's today, one on a trailer and one on an M812 bridge truck that I had purchased 2 years ago.
The reason I am happy, is that a year or so ago, I applied and GL told me that since the sale was over a year old, they would not consider issueing a SF-97.
I then complained...
