Not sure what you are talking about in regards to the special tool? I don‘t see it mentioned in the TM.

Update 4/12/2020: got the mains changed out. torquing to 240 ft/lbs was no easy task. One nice sized pieces of pipe to the rescue. assembled the new pistons. needed to find a creative way to hold the connecting rod and be able to torque to the proper spec. started reassembling the heads.

Update 4/6/2020: My brass pusher worked great and 4 of 5 mains are changed. Could not get rear #5 by myself. Couldn’t reach the bearing with one arm and turn the crank with the other. I’ll solicit the help of soldier B “ the wife“ next weekend. I also made PVC spacers so no need to keep...

Looking for 11/16-11 X 1 1/2” long bolts for my liner hold down clamps. Qty=16. No luck at fastenal, grainger or McMaster Carr.

Update 3/29/2020: I installed the new water pump today. It doesn’t look like much but it’s the first step over the curve. Rebuild; here we go.

Update 3/22/2020: While waiting on the rebuild kit, I finished removing old Gasket material from the block. Wiped down most surfaces. Kit arrived on a pallet. Gonna make my ”liner hold down” clamps then it’s go time.

Update 3/5/2020 heads got magnafluxed, no issues. They are pressure testing to be sure. Heads were checked for flatness and are a bit warped. Going to have them surfaced. This will push out rebuild by at least a week.

Speaking of MVPA, what are they doing about this? I’m a member but I’m not Hearing much from the association.

Update 3/1/2020 supercharger and turbo removed. Tore the heads down to just the exhaust valves. Ready for magnaflux. Ordered Rebuild kit...just south of $4K...ouch! Should start rebuild on Saturday 3/14. I’ll supply food and adult beverages to all wrenchers who come over and help.
