I've tried three different fluids, 10W, ATF and hydraulic fluid. All the same. Mine seems to be doing it when you turn left not right which was more obvious when I disconnected the cooler and right ram. It's gotta be in the box. Guess I'll bite the bullet and swap it out, at least the fender...
Ok, thanks for responding. It's not exactly the answer I was looking for but it might keep me from hanging a replacement steering box.
I've just got to be able to explain it to my customer buying the truck. I just disconnected the cooler and the right ram and it made no difference.
Still...
No prying necessary, it bolts to the accessory drive under the compressor. Just found a picture of Soni's engine. Looks like he replaced it with a bigger hydraulic pump.

I'm using a high dollar hydraulic fluid I had left over from a defense job and it's brown but it also gets so aerated that is gets a chocolate milk look to it. Yes, oldmoose, that's what these look like. I threw a pump at it originally because I thought the only place it could be sucking air was...
If NDT doesn't know that's trouble. Lines and fittings all appear good. You'd think they'd leak when under pressure if there was a hole.
While bleeding the cylinder, I seemed to get a lot of air on the left turn side. I keep going back to something internal on the steering box. I've got another...
I've got an M916 that has a power steering problem. I first noticed it when I found the fluid low and added some. The fluid over flows after the truck is shut down. If the cap is on it come out like a geyser. I've tried turning it from lock to lock a hundred times and tried bleeding the lines to...
The last we heard from you, you had prototyped one and were going to do more and post pics.
Then not another word for years and less than 20 posts, yes, we ALL lose.
I spoke w/ Chelsea, and he said I could ignore it. So I did and it works fine.
The original military set up adds another relay to the power panel that communicates with the transmission.
I've got the Chelsea PTO mounted and I'm trying to wire it up. The Chelsea diagram shows a wire connected to the TCM which tells the transmission when it is engaged. Chelsea tells me I actually don't need this on the older transmission. I know the original PTOs will only engage in neutral and...
Thanks guys. I figured the original surplus ones would bolt up but I haven't found any for sale. The -24P only shows the pump and not the PTO to find a part number. The bolt pattern is different from M939 series. It's 8 bolt and there's plenty of room. I was hoping some one had a Muncie part...
Thanks, nice to meet you. Most of the junk pictured is for sale. I recently renewed my membership so I can get some for sale listings up. I've lost some help here recently, so I've been busy in the shop covering. I need to sell some trucks but there aren't enough hours in the day. I've got a...
I bought trucks from all over. I never paid sales tax on vehicles the were issued a title. I still think GP has it wrong. At a minimum they have the Virginia rate wrong. It is 5.3% on retail sales which is what they charge and the correct amount for vehicles is 4% charged at the DMV at the time...
