This afternoon I was able to get the other wheel assembled and both wheels pressurized to 35psi with no explosions! I'll call it another victory and maybe tomorrow I'll get them installed on the front. In unrelated news, the 1970 1/2 Firebird got a new set of shoes today as well. It was a good...
Today after a brief visit with the inlaws I was able to get a new tire, tube and flap mounted on the spare wheel that didn't have a tire mounted before. Then I finally was able to get the goodyear removed from another spare. Turns out when the tire was mounted, the ring must have caught some of...
This evening I installed the diverter box, defrost hoses and connected the controls. Need to find a 4" piece of duct to connect the diverter to the elbow. I have a piece that came with the truck but it is a little tired and rusty. Hope to snag a piece of angle from work and mount the switch...
It's been a while so I figured I'd post an update. Replaced my rebuilt mc with a new unit a few weeks ago, today I adjusted the last 2 passenger rear brakes and was able to grease everything. Got the heater box installed earlier this week and received a switch and resistor. Need to get air hoses...
Finally got the last 2 passenger side rear axle brakes adjusted, they were near perfect if not a bit tight. Pedal is exactly the same, about halfway and doesn't pump up. Calling it good.
I am working on getting the cab heater installed in my 71 deuce and having trouble locating the cab switch, resistor and mounting bracket, if there is one. In the absence of the correct parts, what have you all been doing? Twood be easy enough to just install a switch and have full fan power of...
I've done some searching on the forum and the webs. I'm on the fence about singling out my deuce due to tire/wheel costs. But from what I've read the NDT tires are rough in the snow and on wet pavement. I would like to get some fresh opinions on going ahead with the subject line on my M35A2. Or...
What type of wrench do you guys use to get at the front lower 1 1/8" nuts to loosen the adjuster? Couldn't get a socket on there and had to wing it with a crescent wrench. I'd like to buy the correct wrench to make sure they are completely tight, was thinking offset box wrench?
Well finally got some time with this nice weather to start adjusting brakes. Front ones and both rear left. Fronts were off a little and one of the rears. Hope to get at the passenger side rears tomorrow. I did fire it up, drained the tanks and pumped the brakes. Still have a firm half pedal but...
Thank you Chris, appreciate the offer and will definitely get in touch with you if I need help. I still have your number, thought I lost it when my phone went swimming with me over the summer lol
When I disconnected the vent line at the air pack there was no fluid at all, I would think there would be a drip or two if there was a leak there, air pressure present or not. I can check it again with pressure
Ok new master cylinder installed and brakes power bled. Pedal is solid and about halfway, same as it was. I didn't get a chance to start it and get air pressure. I'll probably do another pressure bleed and adjust the brakes first as weather allows.
This afternoon I crawled underneath the truck and took the skid plate off of the air pack. Opened the vent air line, no fluid. Then noticed the master cylinder was damp at the front where it bolts on. Pulled back the boot and some fluid came out. Guess the front seal is leaking so I'm going to...
But it only does it when there is air pressure in the system. And right now the pedal is firm. It sat for a few months and when I checked it last week is when I discovered the pedal going almost to the floor.
I'll try bleeding them again after I do the major brake adjustment to eliminate that...
Unhook the vent line off the airpack and see if it blows brake fluid out
Good idea. I will attempt this tomorrow, today would have been nice but more family events......1 year old great niece birthday party lol. Thank you for the suggestion
Thank you! The adjustment doesn't seem too bad. Hope I can get a couple days on a weekend that aren't too hateful and get this done.
Right now I seem to have about half a pedal that doesn't sink. Maybe the adjustment will give more pedal and stop the backflow of brake fluid out of the...
