Hanging a sign with the FEMTT
Here is a somewhat different view of the FEMTT....."riding the hook" to install a sign for our favorite breakfast "watering hole"....:-D
Btw...the gentleman standing by the rear of the FEMTT is famous racecar driver Al Unser senior....he stopped to see what we...
Just wanted to mention that the water temp gauge does not read high engine temp if the coolant is drained, even if the engine overheats!
So they really have to have coolant present to register....hope this helps.
Very cool looking truck....good luck on the trip!

Rear quarter fenders and self recovery winch fairleads
I have been trying to find the roller fairleads that go on the front and back of the HEMTT ever since I got the side mounted, 20,000 pound self recovery winch!
Well a couple of weeks ago, I got an early Christmas present! I found a couple...

The XM920 MET (medium equipment transporter) is powered by a 600 hp Cummins ISX engine and an 18 speed Fuller Road Ranger transmission. It runs 79mph and cruises nicely at 65-70mph all day long.
The M1070 HET (heavy equipment transporter) is powered by a 500 hp 8V92 Deroit DDEC III / IV engine...

There are as many different reasons as there are steam locomotives I have moved. Sometimes they have engines that don't belong to a certain railroad and the owners lease them to different roads for railfan specials. Or in this case the engine sat in a park in Colorado Springs for 75 or so years...

Locomotive D&RGW #168 Move
Just got home from a three day long Locomotive move that brought former D&RGW 'ten wheeler' number 168 from Colorado Springs, CO to Antonito, CO.
This is the one I had mentioned, that required the FEMTT to be equipped with a "fifth wheel module".
Since it was the...

So the weekend was a bit crazy and I sure hope the locomotive move on Wednesday will go extra smooth to make up for it.
The first two pics are of a giant birds nest (anybody know what kind of bird builds a nest like this?) that was discovered when I tried to add oil to the...
