    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Thanks Skinny. I hope you find peace. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. I really do mean that sincerely.

Well well well. Ahem. Looks like Mr Skinny received an infraction. Too bad bro.

    Super Lug 9x16 tires

Hold on there, Mr. Skinny. Don't be so quick to bash those "old non directional military tires". I've been building and running 4WD chevy trucks since 1969, and have probably run just about every brand and type of tire out there. I have actually lost track of how many 4WD trucks I have owned...

Ditto what Rick said. Git rid of all that extra wire!!!!!!!

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

Interesting info on that thermostat. I may have a similar issue once I get my P400 installed. I used a new high-flow water pump from FloKooler and a 195 stat. Only difference is my engine will not be turboed so I won’t have as much heat to dissipate. Looking forward to seeing your results...

    Timing Light?

Does anyone know a good-quality diesel timing light which receives its signal from the #1 injection line pulse? There are several on Ebay and Amazon but are prices from China-cheap to the stratasphere. Hate to buy a pig-in-a-poke. I would prefer a USA-made instrument. Thanks.

    Little oil drops...

Ditto what Rick said. It’s a 36 year old engine so it’s bound to leak somewhere. Hail I’m 70 and I leak.

    Speedometer drive gear?

I have 2 of those 4000 rpm tachs. One is NOS still in the DELCO box and the other is in a gauge cluster. Your will need a signal conversion box to make it work. I have that too.

    Speedometer drive gear?

If you are not sure about which drive gear you have, simply remove the driven gear and housing and look in the hole with a flashlight. The color of the drive gear will indicate which one you have. Might have to squeeze your head in close, but it works. Or if you have one of those snake...

    Speedometer drive gear?

Here is another site which shows the GM part numbers of the gears and housings. http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/speedo.htm

    Speedometer drive gear?

Here is the most helpful site I have found. You can calculate your exact driven gear (if you know your drive gear) based on axle ratio and tire diameter. Or scroll down to see the different gears and their corresponding color and tooth count. Note - in our 4WD trucks the gears are in the tail...

    Speedometer drive gear?

The OEM drive gear in the NP208 is a grey 15-tooth, GM #14037997. The OEM driven gear in M1008 and M1028 is a yellow 41-tooth. No doubt thus combination was for the stock tires and wheels. Not sure about M1009. Regarding the Drive Gear, fewer teeth will slow down the speedometer reading and more...

    How to keep her cool?

Thanks. I was hoping for a shield.

    How to keep her cool?

OK, at the risk of getting flamed, I will jump in here with my opinion. I agree with everything Jim said in his 2006 post on the DieselPage. The bypass system currently commercially offered by Paradox does exactly what is is advertised to do - re-route some of the coolant from the rear of the...

    Horsepower Requirements for fan?

Thanks. I will give him a call on Monday to discuss. I plan on running the fan at 24-volts to decrease the amperage draw.

    Horsepower Requirements for fan?

Hey Mike - which controller are you running on your electric fan? I would like to have the soft-start feature and variable speed control, however to take your advice I would like to avoid the built-in controller if possible. Thanks.

    84 m1009 cucv chevy blazer build-up

Sorry for the delayed post. Here are photos of my custom-fabricated aircraft preoiler pump and its related piping. The P400 oil pan is heavy cast aluminum, so I welded a bung on the side for the suction fitting and -06AN hose. I then routed the hose around the rear of the head through custom...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks for your post. Looks like a clean engine compartment. Please post more information on the batteries and Solargizer in case other SS members would like to do the same upgrade.

Nice work. I’m actually using that same port over the oil cooler lines as the pressure inlet from the 24-volt aircraft pre-oiler pump. Suction will be from the oil pan up through the pre-oiler then through a check valve and down to the port. -06AN hoses through the entire routing. I’ll post...
