Found this in with a bunch of stuff that came with the truck when I bought it. This doesn't look familiar to me, just wonder if any of you recognize what it is. I'm thinking maybe a part to the cab? It's approximatly 5' long.
Well I went to try and knock a little drain hole in the corner of the bed when the water was deepest to drain it, I gave it one whack and two other holes opened up. I think this thing is gonna end up like Swiss Cheese if I clean it up. I kinda figured it anyway. And with the tail all boogered up...
I looked around for a thread on this, but couldn't find any so here goes. I think I'm going to call mine "Super Jeep". I have a Jeep JK, and it's a Kaiser so I think it fits. I was also thinking of "Hummer Who?", but I'm going with a Vietnam era paint job so that seems a bit out of...
I got a couple of frame sections to extend the front bumper. I'm eventually going to put on an electric winch (too much cost and work to add a OEM winch to a WO/W). I have 14" sections to put on, and I bought some 1/4" plate to splice the extensions on. I have 2X18" wide pieces for the top...
Well I just about got all the bumper parts painted and ready to go back on. (Still gotta locate some pieces of frame for the extention) I think I'm gonna mount it in the winch position, which made me think, why do they mount it with the narrow part up on non winch trucks? It's obvious why...
I got a new brake cable to replace the old one which was seized. The old one has a outer rubber cover which is quite cracked so it's not usable. I don't see a separate piece in the parts manual, just the cable is listed. Have any of you replaced your cable and been able to install it without...
OK, so the master cylinder was leaking when I got the deuce so I knew it would have to come out and be repaired or replaced. No problem. I got extra parts when I got the truck, and it came with a rebuild kit AND and NOS master cylinder.
Now thanks to JATonka, I got some highspeed manuals on my...
I pulled off the front bumper today, got to weld the right side back on. It was welded before and the weld broke. (I'm going to put some 1/4" plate behind it for support) I'm thinking of extending the bumper out while I'm at it. I kind of like the winch look, although I probably won't put a...
Well I tried getting the hinge pins out of the tailgate, tried several methods. I just snapped the bolt on piece of my farm jack trying to loosen them. Screw it, the sawsall is next.
The project is to try and straighten out the damage to the tailgate and bed. I used an 8 ton bottle jack...
I need to make some repairs to the bed, and the fenders and doors have some bad spots as well. I have an Oxy/Acetylene setup, so I was thinking of cutting out some of the bad spots and brazing in new pieces. I know it would be nice to have a MIG or TIG, but the best I would be able to swing is...
I've seen a lot of stuff about texting and cell phone usage, and a lot of people wanting to ban those two things. But they are just hot buttons in a much bigger problem. There's a LOT of stuff people do that's just as bad, driving with fluffy in your lap, putting on eyeliner, reading the...
I'm not able to find any info on what the numbers on the data plates mounted on the front of MV's mean. I assume it tells the engineers what certain vehicles weigh so they aren't allowed to cross temporary bridges that can't hold them, but they could just stencil weights on vehicles if that's...
I've been trying to price a cargo covers, but I've not found many out there, and prices seem to kind of all over the place. One place had them for $1200, but it includes a complete set of bows which I don't need. Another place has them for$1200 and specifically states that none of the bows are...
I found the air leak, the valve for the emergency side glad hand got bent back when the truck got backed into a tree. It's the brass shut off valve so its the weakest link back there. It made the threads on one end oval and it's also been cross threaded so the part is toast. Have any of you...
I might be able to get an A3 bed to put on my A2, is the mounting hardware different or do they drop right on? I know they have the marker lights that the A2's don't, and I think they have tie-downs as well. Are there any other differences? Will the ribs and seats from an A2 fit?
Does anyone know if the rectangular tubing on the deuce bed is a stock size? I have a couple of rust spots that probably need to be cut out. If I can just cut out the cancer and weld it a new piece it shouldn't be too bad as far as the rust. I also have to fix some damage to the back of the...
Finally conned the old lady into taking a ride in the deuce. Just did a quarter mile loop out back by the woods. She had not been very receptive about the new aquisition, but since I've been working hard on finishing the patio this week she humored me. Hit a few bumps and the back end got to...
Okay, so's ya'll know, I did search for this first there just isn't much on it. I drove the deuce just a little, put it in low so I could shift some gears. It doesn't seem to want to go into low very easy. I can feel the detents, but they seem weak on going into low. The handel moves up and...
Well I got it home safe and sound, mainly due to the fine assistance of one Mr. Gimpy. (Well OK, he did about 99.9% of it) I think I saw somewhere on here that someone made the comment that he is well respected on this site, I second that.
I got to spread some gravel and wait for it to dry...
Seems like several people have the same of of a guy in a dirty brown tee with glasses and a mustache. Jasonjc, Westec, and a few others have it. Who's the guy? Just kinda wondering, is it a tribute or something? On one thread, every Avatar was the same and I thought at first someone was...
