Yes thats the point. The slug seizes up, when the pump is disassembled (except the slug) compressed air in the output can be used to dislodge the slug if a solvent and tapping doesnt work. I have only had a pump badly gummed up once to need to blow it apart.

Knocker loose works wonders. Also compressed air through the outlet can pop it loose

It's a great feature, but comes with the downside that the less observant wouldn't notice only 1 operating pump.

Id say very reliable. I personally have yet to come across one that is a total loss, every inoperable pump I have had my hands on I have been able to clean out and restore to working order.

its normally open and pressure closes it, the TM is testing a failed closed situation, your possible failure is a failing open. Jumping it takes it out of the equation.

Yes you can run with 1 pump. There should be 3 total. 2 in the prime run circuit and the last (with solenoid) on the aux fuel circuit

Can you send a video? do you have both pumps clicking? Do you run any fuel additives? my gut feeling is something has gotten gummed up.

The breaker on the generator is designed to protect the generator. I am not completely sold personally on the how effective that particular breaker is (too many mixed results). Also you dont have to go too oversized in the feeder.

thats what breakers are for, to protect the wire. the panel main would protect the wire from the set to the panel

What I would do is set the panel up for the largest load.
