I read all the threads I could find about other people's encounter with this issue before starting a new thread.
I'm trying to diagnose as much of the issue as possible remotely as I await approval of my EUC.
I saw that with weak batteries it may crank, but not start. I noticed this pic of the...
I replaced the rear differential and brake lines in my 1986 AM General M998. Now it actually drives in "H", not just "HL", which I know is murder on the truck on high traction surfaces.
The differential I took out was original to the truck, so I'm willing to accept 34 years and 87k miles as a...
Parting shots of "Boondoggle" before she finds a good home to an SS member in Pennsylvania. She's getting picked up today by a 3rd party. Here she is ready for transit.
Bittersweet for sure. But I just purchased an M1078 plus an S280 and an M1082, so I'm upscaling this concept with all the...
Thank you - and that's why I posted it. I had seen a couple S-250 builds elsewhere on the internet and, in my humble opinion, they were formulaic, uninspired, and didn't nearly tap into the potential for the platform.
I think the S-250 offer the opportunity for the nicest, driest, most...
Excellent advice; much appreciated!
I was looking on Amazon to buy both 4 & 5 pins in 12v & 24v. This advice saves me the needless expense. I will buy a handful of 5-pin relays in both voltages to take with me when I go to recover my 1078.
Thanks!
If you indulge a link, the full build details from start to finish are laid out here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/m1102-gichner-s-250-comms-shelter-camper.197426/
Awesome; thanks.
Not gonna lie; you caught me being slack. I had done a few searches, but work picked up pace and I thought I'd rely on the graces of others.
I am waiting to pick up my M-1078 and the inspection notes "some fuses and relays missing" 🤔
That is super helpful, and while I am waiting to be able to claim my truck, I want to wrap my head around what items are inoperable due to missing fuses.
I have attached the picture from the auction...
The Ramim manufactured S-280s went for 2x as much money - maybe I caught a sweet spot in the auction cycle when people were snoozing, but they look identical to me: same specs.
I consider my S-250 / M-1102 build a success; so much so we bought a civilian camper and I'm selling my labor of love...
On to the next [dubious] project: M-1082 (LMTV Trailer) and S-280 Electrical Shelter.
I won the shelter from Albany, GA for stupid cheap: perfect condition (as...
I too, found the posted weight curious; the S-280 empty supposedly only weighs around 1,500 lbs. I didn't see what I consider to be the equivalent weight of my M998 worth of shelving in there. It sucks, because I think it is going to skew transportation bids.
