M1009 whines and will not turn over

Either the flexplate is missing teeth or the starter gear is missing teeth, like stated above. Could be that the Bendix is not extending and the starter gear is turning in the disengaged position, either way it sounds like you're pulling a starter.

    unknown parts identifacation

Do the lines in the first pic come out of that box or is it just a plate? To me it looks like a heater box, or maybe a barrel cooling box if those exist, possibly a defrosting unit? Could you post some more pics of it?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I have learned that as long as pics are posted, build threads are not only permitted, but encouraged.

    Current price of M35a2

There's a marketplace listing near me for an 800 series wrecker that's, well, I would say parade ready for 70k, been listed 3 years, can't figure out why no one wants it..... 😆. Last December I picked my deuce up for a touch above 8k, hardtop, winch, airshift T case, heat, nice seats, leaking...

    Hydraulic Head Rebuild

25 ftlbs you say? No. These are so tight the words "cheater bar" and "fuel lines" were used in the same sentence...... Still aren't off. At least the leak has more than likely been traced, now I just hope everything comes off without breaking and the head isn't cracked. Appreciate the help

Any Transmission Or Overdrive Swap Recently

Not recent but I'm pretty sure @Jeepsinker has done both. If you don't want to mess with the trans, either rockwell or our version (cant remember 100% which) has a 4.90:1 swap for the axles, definitely not cheap though.

50/50 Diesel Gas Mix as Deuce Fuel?

Tried to upload a pic from the TMs, site said no. TM 9-2320-361-10 page 1-21 says if engine runs rough while using any alternative fuel, add 10-30 percent diesel fuel until it levels off. I thought I read in there that any gasoline was supposed to be mixed 50/50 with diesel but couldn't find...

If I had a Dollar for Every Time....

In another life while I was a service manager for a used car dealer, I had to order a transfer case bearing for a Chevy pickup, kid on the phone asked me if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive..... Almost as good as ordering windshield wipers and getting the same question.

In tank fuel pump substitute for M35

I've read people have used 24v Walbro in tank marine pumps with success, a bit pricier than some but still half price of an original pump. I really like simps idea though, hard to foul a pump out if it's not in the constant fouling grossness that is the deuce fuel cell.

Michigan HB 4183 on Historic Registration

I have mine titled as a commercial vehicle for personal use, no restrictions and I can pull whatever I want with it (for myself). This however is good news for those who register theirs as HMVs, as the whole one month thing was ridiculous.

    1969 M35A2 West Mitten

I picked mine up from the Manton area, drove 42 to 66, (I don't like 10), 20 to 30 and bam, 4hrs later we were home. Cruised those nice back roads at 48mph, 12ish mpg, and only had to downshift for 2 hills 😆. Hope your trip goes well, the weather stays favorable, and the traffic is light.
