Glad to hear it was only the thermostat. The tube you refer to is normal. It is the road draft tube which vents from the crankcase. It is normally connected to a tube/hose that extends down towards the axle/road to get it away from the engine so it's not spewing oil over everything.

Interesting. I wouldn't think that amount of oil would be coming from the road draft tube while running. Does it look like it is coming from the oil pan gasket and getting thrown around by the fan? Was it leaking oil before it overheated or after? From the video, it looks like the leak is...

Should be a round black buckle fixture on the outside top. The inside strap wraps under the cover when rolled up and hooks onto the clasp.
