And just like that, there's your windshield frame! Use the parts you need for your first one, taken from the 2nd. When your 1st one is all restored, part out the rest of the 2nd to others that need spare parts for theirs.
Unfortunately, such is the nature of a lot of hobbies involving old...
Dirt71, welcome back to the 10-tons! I remember reading your extensive posts during the restoration of your previous trucks, I really enjoyed them.
Great save on the 300 Cummins unit! That's a neat piece of history. Is this going to get a bolt-by-bolt teardown and restoration like your...
Good job on the plug replacement, the old one sure looks long in the tooth and due for an upgrade.
According to my pinout records, 37 is listed as "Auxiliary Power" on some truck and trailer harnesses, and is not used on most common MVs. Not sure what exact models of military vehicles WOULD...
Looks pretty good, actually! The windshield will be the hard part to find, I looked around a bit for you but no dice. Try Midwest Military and Vintage Power Wagons for the missing parts, and they might be able to give you some leads on combat rims and the windshield.
WWII parts for the oddball vehicles like cab-overs, half-tracks, tanks, motorcycles, etc. are where you find them. There used to be a couple guys who specialized in armor parts for WWII stuff, but that was a while back and I doubt they have any more inventory. Short of pointing you toward...
That's actually not that bad a shape, unless the frame is rusted too bad. A lot of good parts are there that are missing on other project WCs. I say save it, and if you don't want to take the project on, I'm sure someone here will appreciate the opportunity.
Received via email, hate to be the bringer of bad news but here's the facts:
"Hello Red Ball Vendors,
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to tell you that the Red Ball Gilbert, PA show is cancelled this year. This was not our wish to cancel the show and here is the reasons for...
Looking forward to attending this year! Working hard to have an MV by the rally dates so I can actually offroad this time around!
Might be able to do some trail clearing on July 4th weekend, I'll PM you if things work out at my job to allow me the time.
I want to say 2002 or 2003, before that it was on post at Tobyhanna Army Depot, but the events of September 11 2001 brought an end to MV rallies on military bases around the country, as well as gun shows at armories, etc. so a new rally site was found in Gilbert at the fairgrounds. Been...
I will be there on Saturday only, in my usual spot, couldn't get Friday off work. Not much to sell this go-around, lots of small items: military books, some tools, lots of vintage military and industrial radio parts pieces, a little of this and that. Stop by and say hi!
I'd go one step further, and suggest getting a flatbed car trailer to winch your new water trailer onto, for the ride home. Bring some of the heaviest duty ratchet straps, or chains and binders (whichever you prefer, the latter is better but not necessary) to strap it down to your car trailer...
Trying my best to get going for this event - I have a lot going on in the next month or so, so juggling my work schedule, my daughter's school related stuff, and other events that I'd like to attend - it's going to be a photo finish to get to this. I've made it to all the others so far, so...
Sorry I'm going to miss seeing you, Rick, I'll be there Thursday and you on Friday. I'll catch up with you at Graves on Labor Day weekend, hopefully I'll have a green vehicle with me this year!
Hi all,
I have set up at Aberdeen every year from 1998 (when it was still on post) through 2018. This year, I find myself working so frequently that I don't have the time to spend to set up for the entire show, nor do I really have anything left on this end to sell. The militaria and radio...
Never had the privilege of meeting Ron, though I have the highest respect for him and his dedication to Steel Soldiers and the hobby. He will be missed by many, prayers out to his family and friends. :(
