My cab heater fan wasn’t working when I got it from auction, I did a voltage check and I was getting about 12v to the fan switch, found the plug behind the heater was corroded, I replaced with a deutch type plug.
Chains make a big difference, with chains on the truck just digs down till it hits hard pack and drives right through it. Also I used screw in studs and they seem to work well on the ice.
Regarding your CTIS issues, you might want to think of installing a CTiS off switch, the arctic trucks have them installed and I had to activate mine when it got real cold due to the tires draining when the PCU does a tire check...
Do your tires take a while to air down where you get the in between mode error? My truck has the same problem but does it when it is cold, I think it makes the wheel valves more sensitive to unbalanced flows. I think I have an obstruction in the lines or in the rear axle CTIS hub port causing a...
did you use the M&G brake system, how hard was it to put the actuator on your brake booster, out of all the car towing system this the air brake system on the brake booster seemed the safest and well designed. It would also be nice to be able to use the service glad hand rather than running a...
Saw a post on FB that the oil cooler was installed wrong and was bypassing the filter, caused a lot of failures in the bearings, Huei pump, control valves and crankshaft. Checking your oil cooler is a good practice, prob every single 3126 out there the oil cooler is leaking or will leak in the...
I use stanadyne, living in Alaska the fuel is blended with #1 and #2 depending on the expected temp. If you forget to add an antigell additive and you still have your summer blend in the tank you will start to get gelling.
I think most of the tranmission issues are from vibrations, heat exchanger failures, wiring problems, running max governed speed, and low use. One member here says “that no use is abuse.” I think the gear-train module which is about same as the 3060 is prob the most reliable part of the...
Took the clutch housing apart, all I could really find was oxidation, there were numerous rust spots throughout the main shaft and clutch housing, the only thing I can think of is there was corrosion that broke free and caused some abrasive wear in the clutch housing.
Thanks for everyone’s input, it has been hard to find a culprit, I need to take the clutch housing off to see if there is any wear there. When I took apart the PTO the same contaminates I found in the filter were in the housing. Brass shavings, ferrous flakes, and brass particles suspended in...
Took apart my PTO today found some wear on the clutch housing input gear, also found some endplay on the clutch housing. I cannot find a spec for endplay or if that is normal.
Took my PTO back off to check for metal. The PTO seems fine, spins well, slight endplay on the input gear, dumped the oil from the PTO housing into a clean bin and it looks like the same material I found in the lube and scavenge filter. The PTO I took from a parts truck that had about 10k miles...
I was able to remove mine as well, when installed the half moon plugs there was some wiggle on them, I wonder if the drum dimensions are not very consistent. If I have trouble in the future I will use you tip and keep my finger file handy.
I was concerned with those half moon plugs getting...
No the module in the valve body for level check is not there. I just ran it hard up hills, the shifts adapted pretty quickly, the only one it seems to have trouble with is a kickdown to a lower gear when climbing a hill.
Pulled the screen, found some steel qurily qs and some non ferrous metal but no roller bearings and no brass pieces, drained about 2 gallons from the transfer case, drain plug just had normal fuzz. I recently installed a PTO and I think that might be the cause, I plan on pulling it and...
With an approved tes-295 fluid, it is 36 months for filter, and 48 month for fluid. Non approved is 12 months for fluid and filter.
Please ref Allison service letter 10-tr-99
My truck is not in the SN range for the first bearing update, so it has the updated thrust bearing but not in the final update where the composite thrust washer was used.
see attached Allison service letters regarding c6 bearing updates
As far as know there were 3 bearing used. The original...
I recently accomplished my transmission filter change, when I pulled it, I cut open the filters to see if there was metal and I found a bit, most metal was ferrous flakes smaller less than .002, some brass shaving about .0025x.125” and longer ferrous shaving about .0020x.25”. This was the filter...
