All of the above. Would likely fit if you put in the engine and tranny from the MLVW, but there is no telling how it will fit if you somehow get it mounted to the multifuel (even then that is a big "if"). Before even considering that tranny I would see if it is even possible to mate the two...
Yeah sorry not 6.2 (been working on CUCV's too much lately). Yes they are 8.2L DD.
Prefair does have some basic parts, but unless you want something needing a lot of work I would look elsewhere. I was there when he took the trucks apart. He paid two guys with a set of torches to take the trucks...
Looks like whatever is left in the tailgate is not stock. Didn't take a picture of what my tailgate looked like without the latch, but it didn't look like that. It had a part that the clutch fits into. Not that rod.
Just replaced the handle assembly on the M1009 here. This is what it looks like...
The MLVW's had a standard 8.2L DD mated to an Allison MT643 tranny.
Will more than likely need an adapter plate to make it work. If it is at all possible. You might be able to get it mated up to the engine, but it doesn't mean there will be room once it is all together.
Finding one out of...
Was looking at this as well as it would be nice to have a tach in the trucks.
Found this thread from another forum which has a bit of info: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=371045
Never got around to going back so far as I have been busy with work as well as the weather being pretty crappy here lately.
Not sure if he would be willing to sell it to someone else. He only just got the truck and the only reason he offered to sell it to me was because he knew I was into...
Just thought I would add a little something to this thread.
Was having problems with the fuel gauge on my M1009. I followed the steps in the manual to check to see what the problem was and it ended up coming back as the dash gauge being faulty. So I went and pulled the dash apart to get to the...
Got his 6.2L pretty much for free. It was running well he said and they drove the truck over there with the 6.2L in the truck. But he wanted the truck for the cab/chassis, so is the reason why he wants to dump the 6.2L.
Don't remember if it has AC. The big black cylinder in the pic is the 24v...
No I didn't really get a good look at it. Was there due to a 6.2L from a CUCV the owner was going to dump in the scrap bin (even though it was still working) so I was busying looking at that more than anything else.
Tried looking at a few places to get info on it but as I said before, I was...
Thought I would post some pics of a truck I found at a local place for sale.
Is a 1983 Suburban, 1.25ton, 4x4, gasser. And was a military truck which is real odd as I had never heard of one up here. We had the pickup's and the ambulances but never anything else (or so I thought). Is is...
No problem. Glad I could be of some help. I really hate these places that sell manuals like this. Now if it was something that they put together themselves, that would be one thing, but they just copy the original manual (most of the time they get the manual in PDF so there is zero copying...
Great looking truck. Congrats!
I know what you mean about new trucks. I bought a truck today and am going to pick it up tomorrow and am pretty excited. Is not a brand new truck (an 89) but it is something I have been looking for a while so I can't wait to bring her home.
Make sure to take some...
You are not the first, and sadly you won't be the last that something like this happens to.
I get dozens of emails each year to our website where people are asking about buying "a cool army truck". I tell them the ups and downs of owning these trucks and how they should do as much research as...
I have been looking around online and it looks like even the professional modification kits for adding remote controls pretty much just connect actuators to the linkage. Nothing else.
This company just clamps them onto the linkage. They say it makes install very easy as well as maintenance in...
That is pretty much the problem. As neat as they are, the covers have a very small market. Only people in the cold area's of the country would want them, and even then only a few of those people would be willing to buy a set.
I live in -30F temps during the winter and start up/run the trucks...
