Maybe dampen with dynamat or similar?

...might last longer. Not an expert in this area, but that pounding sound of the diesel is probably with harmonics, mostly in the 100-1khz range. No recommending, but Dynamat type of materials impact this freq range. If one of the connectors was more acoustically isolated /adapted, this would help.

    M1010 somebody talk me down

...hesitant as I have never used it and seems to be a less modifiable choice if I need to add wiring or plumbing at a later date. I considered dynamat, but that is awfully pricy. Then I stumbled onto 26 panels of vehicular thermal insulation made by general dynamics. It is a 4 foot by 4 foot...

Pulling engine and transmission to insulate firewall?

...cars at the shop (Vintage, British, etc). The more home work i did i finally figured out that every product was usually compared to the dynamat extreme. Seems like they're the "bench mark". Some of the asphalt cheapies (lowes, HD, and others) were reported to give off some fumes. Some of...

Pulling engine and transmission to insulate firewall?

On my 1008 I used 3m sound deadener in cab and jute padding under carpet. I have used dynamat products, but couldn't justify the expense on a work truck. Still assembling, so can't give results! On my camaro i used dynamat extreme and dynamat liner on interior. Then used a heat shield pad...

Pulling engine and transmission to insulate firewall?

Thanks for the info. Did you leave the transfer case connected to the transmission? I was planning to take it off to reduce weight and to avoid getting hung up somewhere with the extra width.

Pulling engine and transmission to insulate firewall?

...the lines at the hydro booster. The M923 series trucks use a reflective heat shielding material so the stuff is available. I dont know if Dynamat is for exterior use. Anything applied should probably be fastened down and not just applied with the adhesive backing. Cant advise on lift...

    Sound Insulation

Yeah, I'm doing dynamat everywhere in the cab. inside the lower part of the doors and on the rest of virtually every inside surface except the dash console (I'll remove and do the wall behind it) and the windows. Though I did read that acrylic is better at sound insulation than glass and I'm...

    Sound Insulation

Here's how mine turned out using the "DynaMat" liner. The DynaMat I installed under the hood is still working great too ! Nothing falling off. One thing I ended up doing was plugging "every" single hole on the firewall no matter how small. If it was just a 1/4" hole I put a bolt and nut in it...

    Sound Insulation

Just an update. I started putting dynamat in the cab. I also did a frequency measurement in the cab with the engine running. The two highest peaks were at 38Hz and 75Hz with a lesser peak at 115Hz. The more I look into sound insulation, there's really a great deal out there (especially when...

    Sound Insulation

...one brand to the other using any sort of instrumentation , every review I found was based on the reviewer's ear. I decided to go with Dynamat because every review said it was the best. Every review also said it was the most expensive. I didn't do a starting decibel because I didn't think...

    Cab roof insulation

...many modern vehicles use foam in the pillars and between panels to dampen noise. For the fiberglass hard top I was going to line with a dynamat type material then fashion a headliner from masonite type material with more insulation underneath and a fabric of choice glued to the exposed...

    Yet another sound deadening project

...fit the floor using a saber saw with a metal cutting blade. There are bits of steel belt in the mat, but they cut pretty easily. I also used Dynamat on back of the cab and inside the doors. I’ll be doing more, but so far I have dropped the noise level inside the M934 cab substantially. I took...

    Yet another sound deadening project

Noico also makes a product identical to dynamat but about 1/2 price, noico Black on amazon. I attached my floor insulation to the back of my floor mats so they can be removed to dry in case they get wet. The mats are black rubber sheet about 1/8” thick with diamond plate tread on one side, comes...

    Inside Hard top opinions

I used a dynamat clone from amazon called noico, I put a layer on the bottom of the trans tunnel, on the inside of the firewall, and inside the hardtop/back, then 1/2” foam insulation in the hardtop and a layer of charcoal grey trunk liner. This got the db’s From 109 (with soft top) at highway...

    Yet another sound deadening project

...can afford it. I'm gonna use the butyl .067" as a base for everything, under the hood and in the cab. Under the hood I'm also gonna put use Dynamat's hood liner as a second layer. Now for a second layer for the cab I'm still looking into this. I'm gonna need some sort of mat to protect...

Don't worry! With us all at different points with our trucks, we are all making each other broke! If you think I don't have a laundry list of things to do... well. It grows faster that I get things done. My main focus when I started was getting her reliable, especially since she died on the road...

You guys are going to make me broke! I have to wait until next year to use my employee discount so I am making a list..exhaust, Dynamat or Peel and Seal, window seals/tracks.. I have the illumination lights for the inside of the box coming next week. Plus a Milton 501 inflator and Autometer...

    Project m1010

You could Dynamat 25% of the outer door skin and get about the same reduction in vibration/noise etc. I would also Dynamat the out skin like I did. I covered up all the holes so you don't get the Drum or guitar effect. The noise reduction was greatly reduced.
