    Mep-803 question

The IP is probably 1P and is just an inventory marker for the people at DRMO, Richie Bros., or the unit disposing of it.

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Is that line in the green supposed to represent 24 volts or 28 volts? I would think center of green would be 24 volts. 28 volts would be high end of green. I have never, ever found meters in military equipment accurate, they are basic indicators of a problem. They will put accurate meters where...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

As far as tarps go I would think any marina could make you a tarp in any dimension and material you want, just give them the measurements. My tarps come from Harbor Freight, Tractor Supply or Lowes. They last a couple years and then they start to fall apart and I get a new one. I get the mid...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Guy, I am also dyslexic, and I have ADHD. That was not a thing when I was in school, I was just classified as a problem child. But over theyears I have learned to make the adhd work for me, I just generally have several things going at once so I do not have to stay focused on any one thing too...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

As soon as Guy read off that list of wiring and said that is all there is to it I about died laughing. I figured you were headed to the liquor store about then. A lot of people do not realize that to some of us this is no big deal, have diagram can repair. But to others a diagram and anything...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Remember what I said WAY back somewhere in this thread about electrical problems? Start with the grounds and then the connections. I followed that up with proper diagnostics will solve the problems where throwing parts at it will just cost money and aggravate the problems. A lot to be learned...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

On that relay look for where the connection wires connect to that coil and with the relay disconnected from the circuit do an ohms test across the coil. If open circuit that is the problem, if not it may still be the problem. Heat it up with a hair dryer and check while heating. If it never...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Strange that heat would affect that but like I said, wait until it cools down and see if it passes the test when cool. Those relays appear to be able to be disassembled. I would take all the wire off and brush those small studs clean and put some Kroil or WD-40 on them and remove the cover and...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Personally I would start tracing that solenoid wire back from the starter solenoid and see where it leads me. Between that and the TM's you should be able to find the problem easily enough. Every time you find a connection point in that wire take it apart, clean it and check it for power...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

It is possible that the starter solenoid is going open when hot. It is nothing more than an electrical coil, and one under a LOT of vibration at that. It may be making enough contact on the primary side when cool but when heated up and things expand there may be a break in the internal wiring...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

It would be better to use a fine sandpaper like 320 or finer. Emory leaves fine scratches which will create arcs and burn even faster. Be sure to blow out whichever you use as the silicone carbide media can be an insulator. Not to mention abrasive.

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

contacts are closed but are they clean? Like ignition points any electrical contacts can burn and lose contact. The fact it only does it hot makes me think it is something else though. If the problem bolt is the one with the wing nut you just need to wire brush as much rust off as you can and...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Something to remember on any older equipment, cars, trucks generators, anything electrical that has seen weather and age. If something electrical does not work the very first thing to check is grounds followed by the appropriate power circuits for that part of the unit. Any plug or connection...

    Mep-003 low oil pressure

I keep thinking about the spring you mentioned in the filter. You had good pressure before you added the spring? It has been a while since I had one of these apart but isn't that spring in there to hold the filter seal to the block? If it was not in there then there would not have been any...

    Mep-003 low oil pressure

I would skip the STP, I am not a big fan of oil additives. Modern oils are well equipped with all that is needed. I did a rather large test for a very well off gentleman I maintained a fleet of old vehicles for and we came to the conclusion that the additives did no good at all over the factory...
