I have looked online myself and didn't find anything either. As I said above, the owner said there are no dataplates on it to indicate any builder name, serial number, etc.

You need the two batteries. Pretty much all diesels (including civilian trucks) have two. The only diesels I have seen with just one battery are small ones in cars which don't require as much amperage to get started.

Looks good to me. Very simple and straight forward. Usually the simplest solutions are the best ones. Good looking truck. Though I find it odd why someone painted the spare tire.

Even the cheapest synthetic oil is better than dinosaur oil. So you will be fine using pretty much any synthetic 15W40 oil. Only problem with "some" older engines is that some seals might let the thinner synthetic oil leak past them. Tired to put synthetic in my 1988 pickup and it did nothing...

Most every truck have that ring leg support installed. Both the M35 and M109 we got have it. As do all the older 1950's M135/M211 trucks we owned. Is something that comes standard from the factory. You can remove it if you want. Doesn't hurt anything unless you intend on getting a ring mount...

Would you happen to remember which model number that is? I keep looking on the tuffy site, but they have so many different models and sizes, I am not sure which would fit properly.
