New Cummins HMMWV project in the works!

Thanks Westy! ;) Lanty, I actually thought about a standard swap just to be really different, but the NV4500 shift tower would be too far back. I suppose I could run a ZF6 since the shift tower is about 4" closer to the engine. I'll settle for a built slush box though.

New Cummins HMMWV project in the works!

Thanks Ted. As you know, it has been a long time coming. I am going to run 24v. The 6BT has a 12v 130A Leece-Neville alternator on it right now and it looks to have the same case as a 24v 100A alternator that I have in my garage. I am thinking about running a 2-man Avenger hard top on it...

New Cummins HMMWV project in the works!

Thanks Paul. I am excited about it too. I've done a few engine swaps over the years, but this will be by far the coolest one and the most involved. I'll be sure to take lots of pics as usual.

    M116A3 Help

I am not aware of a ready-made adapter for hooking military trailers to civilian 4-pin or 7-pin connectors. I made my own with a trailer receptacle from a CUCV and a $10 7-pin trailer pigtail from the auto parts place. There's a pin sheet on SS somewhere that shows what wire goes where. I'll...

New Cummins HMMWV project in the works!

Nice truck! I considered the Dmax too, but I am a die hard Cummins guy and couldn't resist the challenge. Good to know, David. Thanks. I have seen Auto World mentioned on the 4BTswaps site quite a bit. I'll give Kenny a call. I figure the tranny will be an issue with this truck. The 47RH...

New Cummins HMMWV project in the works!

Hi Gang, As many of you know, I traded my M925A2 for a 1985 M998. It came from a great guy in TX named Rick. It was an interesting 3-way trade where Rick got 19kilo's deuce RV, I got Rick's M998, and Dave 19kilo got my M925A2. The HMMWV is not quite home yet. It is currently in Memphis...

whats the best rout for parts

Tanner, yes, I realize that the Allison 1000 uses a PCM and the aftermarket stand-alone units are $$$. I was just saying that a 4L80E does use a PCM where the 700R4 does not. jjramrod, sounds like you have thoroughly tested your 4bt/700R4 combo already. I am hoping for around 325/600 with...

American armor on the streets of Egypt

I'm locking this one. If anybody feels the need to complain about it, then I will delete it instead. Please cut out the thinly veiled political discussions. Sure, it's current events, but we don't do politics here. All it does is tick people off.

5th Annual Steel Soldiers Florida Rally Official Thread

Come on guys. Show a little respect for those members who may have a handicapped child/relative/spouse/etc or they themselves are handicapped. I am not going to add retard to the word censor because that would seriously effect engine discussions (i.e. your timing is too retarded.) Thanks.

whats the best rout for parts

That sounds like a good project. I am gathering parts for a 4BT swap too. I hope you are having that 700R4 beefed up since the torque of the Cummins will really test that tranny's muster. A 4L80E would be a better mate, but then you're dealing with a PCM. I am going to run the TH400 until it...

Need to borrow a trailer in WV for HMMWV haul

Hi guys, Do any of you fellas in WV, preferably southern WV, have a trailer I can borrow? My HMMWV made it as far as Memphis and I am looking at driving down there and hauling it the rest of the way back. I need a trailer with at least 7' across the deck so a 7x16' to 7x20' trailer would be...

    steel soldier member owned businesses

We have actually talked about having a vendor member category. Being a vendor member would require you to pay an annual fee, but you would get certain perks like a special title and your own forum where you could list parts specials, new products, etc... This is still in the discussion stage...
