Doc installed the new idler pulley, brackets, and belts.
He cleaned up the generator harness.
He discovered that the starter bracket was broken. He welded it back together, cleaned it, and painted it.
His next project is rebuilding the carburetor.
I'm seriously considering doing the same to my M1009. Could you please explain how you secured the paracord when you started? What knot(s) did you use to tie it off at the end of the top and bottom sections?
Have you talked to Darryl Bensinger? He may know the dimensions off of the top of his head. I buy my Mite parts from him. Good guy to deal with. :-)

Doc sent me a few pictures of the work he's completed. I wish I was there helping him turn wrenches... :-(
Doc straightened the hood rod, reattached the hood rod and fabricated the new Skycraft hood rod holder. The hood is held up by the hood rod now. :-)
That's a really good idea, CUCVLOVER! The summers in Central FL are brutally HOT - so hot that I use an oven mitt to start the truck and drive. I get first degree burns on my palm and fingers when I don't use the oven mitt, even with a reflective sunshade covering the windshield. (No, I'm not...
The last time I drove Jeannie, her batteries weren't charging. Doc came down to my neck of the woods on Saturday. I gave him 1 solid state voltage regulators and 4 conventional voltage regulators, 2 spare generators, a round mirror that can used for a rear view mirror, and a few other bits and...

M422
We bought my wife’s Mighty Mite, Jeannie, nearly a dozen years ago. The previous owners never finished the mechanical restoration. She has many issues that need to be addressed and repaired. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor expertise to give her all of the TLC that will bring...
Sorry, Carnac, but I won't touch Uranus with a ten foot pole!! :naner::naner: I'll pass on the Uranus Fudge Factory. Anything coming out of that place has GOT to be, well, less than appetizing....
Thanks, Ahab. :-) The trailer weighs 1700 lbs and has a steel deck. The M422 weighs 1700 lbs. I'm over 3500 lbs with the spare trailer tire and tools. My MPG without the trailer is 20 MPG. Towing the trailer and Mite it's 10-12. I run no faster than 60 MPH when hauling that setup. It is very...
Yesterday I loaded my wife's M422 onto our flatbed trailer behind my M1009. The Mite doesn't run. I manually winched it up on the trailer with an 8,000 lb capacity ratchet winch, 2 axle tie downs, and a 20' trucker's chain.

Welcome to Steel Soldiers and welcome to the wonderful world of CUCV's!! :-) I've owned my M1009 for ten years. Occasionally I add diesel fuel additive. I don't notice a difference when I run it. CUCVRUS knows his stuff about CUCVs. I always appreciate his advice. Top off your tank with #2...
This morning, I learned that I have another commitment immediately following the parade. I won't be able to head to Rock & Brews. See y'all at the parade. :-)
Have you pulled the starter out and checked the cables for corrosion, fraying, or loose connections? If you haven't, disconnect the battery cables before climbing under your truck.
