I attended the mandatory driver’s meeting last night at Orlando City Hall. Here’s a quick summary of what I learned:
- ADHERENCE TO THE FEDERAL FLAG CODE...
I had the same problem. I was so grateful for the thread that Warthog created back in 2010. It saved me hours of aggravation. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?50551-CUCV-Switches-Diodes-Relays
I used a pair of needle nose pliers to split the diode in half. I agree with CUCVRUS - the...
Have you considered replacing the steering components while you're doing the brakes? I created this thread last year when I did the job on my M1009. It may help you.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?125140-M1009-Tie-Rod-End-Replacement-Project
You mentioned that the truck pulls to the right when braking. Did you replace the rubber brake lines to the calipers? Sometimes the lines collapse which causes brake fluid to press on the pucks and never fully release.
Mike - I'd hate for this event to be lost in my thread. Did you create a separate thread in the Upcoming Events section for the event? Do you need RSVPs for it? If so, do you want the RSVPs to be addressed to you? I'm more than willing to blast the event details out to everyone on my Mailing List.
I wanted an air intake line for my 6.2L for a while. I haven't been able to scrounge one off of a truck at a junkyard because the yards in my area don't keep vehicles 30 years, so I made my own. I had a leftover piece of 6" flexible aluminum dryer vent line left over from another project. It was...
11/8/15 Sunday - Mount Dora Patriot Cruise & Salute, Gilbert Park, Mount Dora. This is a patriotic music and BBQ event for wounded soldiers that can be taken out for a free boat cruise on the Harris Chain of Lakes. We've been invited to display our vehicles for their event. Plan to arrive...
I towed a 2800 lb jeep on an 1800 lb double axle steel bed trailer 325 miles one way with my M1009. I have stock 31" tires, stock axles, no turbo, a Class III hitch that was bead welded and bolted to the truck frame, and a Tekonsha trailer brake controller. The truck ran fine at 60-65, but I...
My main concern about mounting the mats against the windows is that they might reduce visibility and increase blind spots. That can be VERY dangerous on the Autobahn.
I will never buy another Dayco belt. They stretch way too much. Order Gates belts from Amazon (if you can wait 2 days). Gates belts on Amazon are about half the price of the local auto parts stores. If you need the belt right away, go to O'Reilly's or Car Quest. FWIW Advance recently bought Car...
jbayer - Are you able to attend my other Veterans Parade in Orlando?
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?144915-Sat-11-14-15-Downtown-Orlando-Orlando-Veterans-Day-Parade
I received a letter from the City of Orlando. This year's parade recognizes the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War commemoration. The parade will be televised live on Bright House News 13! :-D
**************I need a finalized vehicle count by 10/28 at 3PM. Please let me know by then if you...
I recommend buying a M1009. Engine swaps cost LOTS of money and LOTS of time, especially if you install a diesel into a truck with a gas engine. It's much easier and cheaper to buy a truck with the 6.2L already installed.
I laughed when I saw that you typed 'dynamite'. :-D I know it was a typo, but the visual of strapping sticks of dynamite under the hood of a HMMWV was somewhat amusing. ;-)
jpg - I just got off the phone with AAA. I have Plus coverage which includes 100 miles of free towing. I asked them if there were any modifications I would need to make to my coverage level if I purchased either a Ford F350 Quad Cab 8' Bed DRW or comparable GM 3500 series truck. The agent put me...
