    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

The previous leaks caused me to reinstall every single bolt on the hardtop (even behind the seat) and then caulk the seams with silicone. I did POR-15 on the floor to keep that at bay as well. Just need to repaint the green on the battery box and reinstall today. I do have another problem...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

The neglect doesn't end, just because I wanted to hit some some of the metal around the seat and not get paint on it, I took off the seat. Yuck. It does give me the chance to redo the seat upholstery though, no telling what weather, bugs, or some sweaty solider buildup is on this thing.

Behr paint prep on divots and rust spots

Wondering what people do besides completely sanding down the uneven spots that a little rust and or flakes have left before applying Behr paint. I know the Behr is self leveling, but I would think something like glazing putty might be the right thing. With most small surface rust, it was a...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Swapping out the battery box. This truck sat at Riley for a bit and the parts I'm tackling shows it. The batteries most likely froze, split and created a mess. I also was taking off the side marker lights for replacement and they were rusted good. Got them off (one by force) and am going to...

Pickup Question for M934 out of Randall, Minnesota

There is a part cross reference right in the 5 ton stickies. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=82404 If you go (it's fun), know where the closest NAPA is or bring oil, filters, etc. I would have all of it ahead of time, as sometimes they are out of stock. Bring pretty much all...

New Young Member and have many questions

I'd expect to read a lot. The best part of these trucks is how well they are documented. The TM's are FULL of detail, and while a bit misleading sometimes, tell you exactly how to turn a screw and how to troubleshoot a malfunctioning electrical component. I am an IT guy, not a motor pool...

delaware dmv "no more mv registrations"

If you are bugging out, then why even register it? Tow it on the property and call it good. (Check the local laws however on insurance and such as well). Get a good understanding of the state statutes if you are registering it, and stick to the laws. They aren't that complicated to find nor...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Got some paint at Home Depot today, someone posted yesterday that it's $10 off gallons and $40 off 5 gallons this weekend. Hurry! I got some more Desert Tan and a gallon of green for the inside of the cab. MWMULES last trip picts is tempting me to go BFR again. It's not his fault, he...

BFR Metals, Salina Kansas, a Goodie Hole

STOP please. I vowed to not go back again (I've gone three times this summer), but I can't think of that stuff going to the crusher when so many people need stuff. Glen is like Obi-wan. You will come back and pull more parts.. MAYBE one more time. Glen when is V-Day for the 700...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Here is the old top. They didn't secure it down enough or seal it, so the water got some of it.

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Swapping out the hardtop Had to take the battery box out as well. It looks like the batteries leaked and made a hole in a couple of spots. I had a replacement waiting I got from Glen months ago in anticipation. Now I might have to cut and weld in a piece of the floor. Probably use some...

Painted a rim to get the color and a feel for the paint. Did that with a brush, then did the side with the gun. Wow, easy to do. Behr premium plus. Rim. Before After Marker lights, new ones Using the Harbor Freight air gun, it works great. $10 is just silly not to buy 2.

    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

It does, but also saw an M934 have the same symptom as that and turned out to be a bad ground. We thought it was seized at first. And the starter would only engage by crossing the terminals. The video does sound like low batteries...

BFR Metals, Salina Kansas, a Goodie Hole

Made the trek out from Denver again to get some parts from Glen. Long road trip but completely worth it. Got some CTIS quick release valves, large fuel filter assembly, two pristine front windows, some gauges, scored a solargizer, small parts and a couple of heater cores. Glen has a ton of...

    Ironman - M939's everywhere.

    Wait. These are not M939's.

    Ironman - M939's everywhere.

So I was watching this on the plane the other week and had to do a double take. Of course I had never seen it before, as I wasn't looking. BUT, there are a ton in there. That poor M925 though, what happened to his canopy? And all of those crates, those are dragon missile cases. I have a...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Thanks for the advice. I've read the TM on the air compressor removal, and don't have the truck close to check it out. Is it an easy removal? The TM eluded to removing the steering pump, and I've heard that the fit under the IP. and the belt is a challenge (might be mixing up the Deuce...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

I guess I eluded to a space problem, but didn't tell you how I solved it. Here's the deal, I was just thinking too far down the road. I hedged on buying anything because I wouldn't have the space to put it. I realized my problem was myself, if I bought the truck, then I'd be forced to figure...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Probably going to see Glen this weekend. I have a couple of items on the want list, and probably will grab a full dash if I can find one so I can have a stock of gauges. Anybody have something that they wish they would have had as a spare that I should pull?
