I've got a Galaxy 959 with SSB for a radio and a Wilson 5000 mag base, 5' steel whip and a Astatic 636 mic.
I have the ant mounted on the middle of the cab roof and it works great.
Don't skimp on the mic that you use either, it makes a huge difference.

I rebuilt my 24 volt distributor with new bushings, top shaft seal, coil, points, cond, rotor and cap a couple of days ago. The original bushings had about .010" wobble on the top end and I don't think anyone had soaked the oiler wick for the last 20 years. I even oiled the wick under the rotor...
If you have a T245 and installed a Victor style rear main seal it will not seal correctly. The anti freeze may be coming from a rusted out freeze plug.
Here is the only rear main seal that will work if it's not a bolted in style.
