I wish it weren’t so darned far. I’d do that trip in a heartbeat if it were closer, or if we could find something similar that was closer. The distance is a deal killer for me, and apparently, most everyone else.
It’s too bad, I bet that is one beautiful and unforgettable trip.
I was thinking of a trip like this recently. Specifically the AK highway. I don’t know if it’s reasonable to believe that I could pull it off or not. Who is “in” and who is thinking it over, and what are the dates and details? How long will you spend from the Canadian border to the end?
Just...
What happened with the Alaska Trip? Did it get postponed to ‘18? Is it a private group or was it open to SS members? Sorry, I never quite caught that.
BTW, I just finished reading the entire thread (in two sittings) after I finished building my own winch bumper. We both went about it...
Ha! You Got me!
Thats awesome. Can you share what cylinder you used to convert yours? I know there are some companies that offer packages, but I’m also aware of plenty of other options. What direction did you take?
That’s a lot of gravel too! 24,000 lbs of rocks. It’s amazing how little just 5 tons of gravel is. I have a small 4x8 dump trailer that I built about 10 years ago. It holds about 3 yards if it’s level (32” tall walls). That’s a little over 4 tons of sand/gravel mix. That’s just a 4x8 trailer...
A friend explained the 13 gear transmission to me last weekend, so now I am a professional. When you get it installed, just bring it down, and I’ll show you how to grind the gears into place properly. It’s an art really.
I had a guy tell me that he welded a piece a 1/4” plate on the bottom of his bed to keep from loosing chunks of his tires when it made contact like this. Sounds like a good idea. I guess a 12” wide piece of 1/4” flat maybe 16” long or so for each tire is cheap insurance if you like to go...
No, you clearly hit it with the drivers side tires. All of them.
Dont be so hard on yourself! Looks like you did a good job to me! Also looks a bit intentional :)
Jericho, That brings up a question. What is the best place to tie in your air ride seats? Got some USSC and GSS seats and need an air source, and want the easiest, most convenient, least likely to screw up my air system place to tap in. Thanks.
If you are very good with metal fab you can think up something for an overhead center console. Use the two J bolts that hold the hard top on to keep the center console bolted down. You can either add an additional fine thread lock nut on top of it or or use the nut itself. Mine is curved to...
Thanks, we will see. I’ll build one more, this time with CNC plasma cut parts. If I get the labor cut down to a few days instead of a few weeks, maybe I will sell a couple. The head scratching and torch cutting was the biggest time constraints.
It looks nice, and its stout!
Im bending some...
Chris, that looks nice. I’d like to run something like that across the front if there is room.
ShdSteel, I put my bench in the bed, and the batteries stayed in the bench. It works out well, most of the time. Have not had an issue with it being back there yet. I wanted an ac so the center of...
