99nouns - Don't let one or two bad apples sway how you feel about your truck. As you can see by all of the posts, your true friends support you. You are a member of the best OD iron support group in the world! We've all experienced nay-sayers in one way or another. Please read through this...
I have never been to Oregon, so I don't know what the summer temperatures are. The summers here in sunny Florida are steamy to say the least. 95+ degrees with 90% + humidity. I had factory A/C installed in my CUCV to make it more bearable to drive. I also installed an insulation blanket under...
Tinman - If your truck is running at peak efficiency, 20 MPG is average. Not bad for a 30 year old 5200 lb military truck! Since you sold both of your other vehicles and bought the CUCV, I suggest stashing cash away in case you have mechanical issues or if you have to run out and buy another...
Tinman - Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Academy!! [thumbzup]:jumpin::cookoo: Congratulations on your recent acquisition.
I've owned my M1009 for 8 years. It is my daily driver. I have a stock 6.2L and TH400 with 3.08 gears and 31" tires. I have absolutely no problem cruising...

Thank you Scott. I found a set of 116 decibel dual trumpet 12 volt horns that don't require an air source. I will try to get them mounted and ready to be connected by the time the rally rolls around. I'm not too fond of the polished stainless steel look. I prefer OD :-D At least I won't have to...
I have a problem with the horn on my CUCV. Late last night, I learned how big that problem is. I was run off the road and nearly sideswiped on the Turnpike while hauling my 18' double axle flat bed trailer. I was in the right lane running at 60 MPH. The trailer tires ended up in the grass, and...
We had a great pot luck breakfast at the March rally before we went on the trail ride. I propose we do the same for this rally. I'll bring grits, a package of hash brown patties, and some homemade breakfast sausage patties. Who else wants to add to the feast?
To the OP:
If you find useful information that is not in the Stickies, such as the part numbers for the transfer case seals, you can send a PM to the CUCV forum moderators with the information. They can add your information to the existing stickies. The stickies are an amazing resource. They...
How do you plan on repairing the rusted out places? If you plan on welding in new steel, I'd be a little concerned that the surrounding metal might heat up and melt nearby insulation.
I LOVE your engineering. It's so professional! :-)
Could you please post more pictures of your vice mount? That looks really cool! :-) Is that a Class III receiver?
Did you insulate the space between the ceiling plywood and the hard top?
I saw three batteries in the box. I'm guessing two are in...
Here is the thread from the Rally in March. I had a great time. Vinny picked a beautiful location for our lunch break.

I'm going. Vinny does an awesome job pulling this event off. The campground is secluded and well maintained. The trails are a blast! :jumpin: [thumbzup] :driver: Most of them are dry, and easy passage for Deuces and 5 Ton's. Is anyone else interested in going?
