elkhtr, I just repaired an engine in an A2 for SS member grits with the same problem, only it was one valve. Check the valve adjustment screw in the affected rocker arms. They are supposed to be hard to turn and have no lock nuts. In Andy's engine that screw was real loose and backed out...
whiterabbit is right, it is well documented that the choke has to be out for them to run right. Military mechanics used to set them as described above because some of the young drivers did not understand this and it was easier to set the choke so the driver could push it all the way in and...
If it were close to me I would snap it up for that price. I have owned one in worse shape than that one for years and really enjoy it. Parts are easy to get and lpcoating here is making great panels for them. Mine is now sporting an NOS engine I got off e-bay for $206.00 delivered. The guy...
Just check in through the gate and stop at the search area. I went in with my Buddy once who had a retired military sticker on his windshield and said we did not have to stop. According to the MP's that ran us down and escorted us off base we did need to stop and be searched.
Torisco, I have missed this post and I check everyday. Please be assured you are not being shunned by Members here. I did not see a picture of the PTO but some old jeeps were equipped with three point hitches to pull plows by farmers and that PTO sounds like a tractor PTO. Is it 1 and 3/8...
She looks rough but if she starts, drives, stops and dumps, that the important stuff. Tires don't matter for a farm truck if it does not get on the road. The problems you mentioned are small one. It has an electric solenoid to switch fuel on and shut down engine but has a manual bypass on the...
Whiterabbit, thats what they were supposed to do. People move barricades and drive around them. No one has ever moved one of my trucks or questioned why they were there. Did you come to the slow tractor race??? I was the winner.
Yes, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I will be there with boiled peanuts. Last year they were at twrights coffee tent next to the MKT. I will do my best to have roasted for the Yanks that refuse to be converted also. Of course I will be cooking my stone ground grits for breakfast every...
No blueprints or diagrams. I designed it in my head at night in bed as I went along and build it out of scrap. I will give a little more details later as the Wife wants to go visit some friends now.
Here is a picture of my sled that I built. We play with it at our annual antique tractor club event in November. It will stop a 100 HP tractor and any regular 4 wheel drive pickup. It does very little with a duece or 5 ton other than just be a nusience to it. MDMORGAN pulled it with his...
Sled owners frown on dump clutch starts. I have heard them state, jerk my sled and you are disqualified. You really can't hurt anything as long as you use good common sense. The only warning I can give is if you get wheel hop stop, or you could break an axle or something else.
One of my computers is so messed up with popups I don't even try to use it for inter-net. I got them when I tried to install google chrome, uninstalled google chrome but still get the pop-ups.
That model number appears to be correct as when I Goggled it I got a picture of it. I also goggled the number stamped on the cylinder, 31-100, and found where one had sold on e-bay recently. Google search also revealed several posts on SS dealing with this same model forklift, DTC 8606 rough...
This may not be the right forum but, I have a Friend that has acquired a military forklift and is trying to get it going. He has asked me for information but I know very little about it. It appears to be built by Clark. It has a Clark transmission behind a Cummings engine. The Data tag is...
From my antique tractor experience in parades I agree with what Clint says as we could go to an event at least twice a month and it gets to be work. But I also think if someone wants to go to the trouble to host an event that would be great. Certainly not something as big as the Ga Rally, but...
