    6.5NA Water Pump Recomendations

The reverse impeller is for serpentine belts. There are 3 pumps available. The 6.2 pump for v-belts. A 6.2/6.5 pump for serpentine. A 6.5 high flow pump for 96+ serpentine. The high flow pump will not bolt to the older backing plates. With that said, if you're using v-belts use the 6.2 pump. If...

Pieces and parts for IP rebuild

Generally, you want to do as little as possible. I have only done this on the Stanadyne DB2 but none of the adjustable parts of the pump have to be disturbed to replace all of the seals. Adjustable components can be removed as an assembly.

    Another MEP003 is alive

Is the corrosion in the bottom localized? I would epoxy a sheet metal patch on the outside of the pitting can be covered by it. This is a lot less likely to cause problems than using a liner.

Glow plug voltage question. TM is giving mixed signals

You can drop the pan without pulling the motor, fairly easy. Rods can get a wiggle test. Mains you'll have to drop a cap. Have you tried rolling the engine with a wrench on crank front bolt? The 28MT was the better starter available for the engine...

    37x 12.50R 17 tire upgrade on CUCV

I think that upwards arch is normal. My shackles are still vertical.

    37x 12.50R 17 tire upgrade on CUCV

I did the zero rate 1" lift blocks on mine with 1.5 inch offset. I ditched the sway bar. I don't really notice it missing except when driving behind the truck. On the freeway the torque winds the chassis up so that the tailgate and back window angles are off by about 2 inches. This pic shows...

Glow plug voltage question. TM is giving mixed signals

Use 10.5V rated glow plugs for your CUCV. AC Delco 60G is the correct number. Don't run other brands. The CUCV setup is hard on plugs and the Delcos don't swell up when they fail. The glow plugs relay is run by the ignition circuit and uses a 12v coil. Do not use a grounded relay such as a Ford...

    Battery spark after new Alternator

My CUCV had both alternators identical. They were both isolated ground, look for plastic insulators around the circled stud. Driver's side alternator gets negative pole connected to engine block for 12V. Passenger side alternator gets negative pole connected to 12V positive terminal for 24V. You...

    Antenna/Brushguard mounting bolts

You might be able to get away with well nuts if you don't have the nut riveting tool. McMaster also has those.

M1008 lift kit in France (or Europe)

You can do 37 inch tires without lifting. Off Road Design has a kit to offset the front axle forward 1.5 inches. You just need to trim the front fenders below the marker lights.

    M1008 Build

A little late joining here but if you still have the original radiator I highly suggest getting it re-cored. The original is far superior to any of the aftermarket units and a good radiator shop can maintain that quality.

    Dash pad question

Have you considered reaching out to an upholstery shop? The cracked pads can be repaired and recovered.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

The alternator adds to whatever voltage it senses. The first alternator has its negative terminal connected to its case, so bolting it to the engine, attaches it to ground. If we say ground is zero volts, the alternator adds 12 volts and that charges the first battery. The second alternator has...

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

The alternator with the red insulator on the stud is the isolated ground alternator. That one goes on the driver side. As for the vacuum pump orientation, you can rotate it and orient it whichever way you want. If it won't drop back onto the oil pump drive shaft, just bump the starter until it...

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

I was daily driving my truck. I had to pull the valve covers and remove the gaskets within 6 months.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

Don't use gaskets. Use the ultra black silicone. If you use the cork valve cover gaskets you'll need to retorque them periodically and you can't do this because the fuel line clamps are in the way. To add insult to injury, when you try to take the nut off the stud is loose so you won't be able...

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

Please tell us you didn't put gaskets under the valve covers. It sounds like you did. For primary wiring it should comply with SAE J1128. Automotive wiring has a flexibility requirement, especially at low temperatures that other wiring doesn't need to comply with. Otherwise, there really isn't...

    M1009 Shock Recommendations

I just took my sway bar out entirely 😉.

    M1009 Shock Recommendations

Boots aren't the best for impact protection. An open shaft with a plastic guard is the hot trend right now. Dirt bikes have been doing this since the late 1980's. The hot rod trucks such as the Raptor have adopted the same practice. The external wipers are problematic as well. The wiper in the...

M1008 idling good but engine shut off driving.

This happens when the injection pump drains while parked. This usually happens over night. The engine starts and idles fine but will die once a load is applied. After up to a minute or cranking, similar to priming the fuel filter, the engine will start and run fine for the rest of the day...
