If you have the 8.3 Cummins are you making sure the fuel shutoff solenoid is working. This has been a persistent problem with these trucks since they were fielded. The silver nub at the bottom left of the solenoid should retract when you turn on the battery switch. If it doesn't retract then the...
Because you can't gold plate a turd (well you can but then you just have an expensive turd).
I've owned a lot of deuces and they are all power deficient and even when you do bump up the power you run into other issues. Plus the engine is in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a concrete block...
You can't see it in the pics but there is a lot of damage to the unit. It may be rebuildable since I have the ref to the parts now. I'll take all the info to my mechanic and see if he can do the job.
Thanks to those who have rendered assistance.
UPDATE: Called NAPA and gave them the number. No soap. I'll check with my secret source and see what he found out.
My buddy has a Volvo that has the 8.3 in it and he says it as the serpentine belt in it also.
This is getting stupid.
Thank you Doghead. I would have thought Fleetpride stocked Horton. He looked at the one I brought in, checked it against all the books he had on the counter and found nothing. I think part of the issue is that the older 8.3's used V-belts and the ones in the A2's use the serpentine belt.
I'll...
I now know that getting a fan clutch for the 8.3 Cummins in the A2 trucks is an exercise in frustration.
I took the old one to Fleetpride and they could not match it.:?:
Cummins in Birmingham is equally clueless.:shrugs:
Evidently it is a proprietary item built for HARSCO/BMY for...
I have three A3 900 series trucks in the yard. Two of them don't have the big filter and one does. I think it just depended on whether or not they had the big filters available when they rebuilt them. When the trucks were rebuilt they were stripped to the frame and when they put them back...
It is an M101 that has had the original bed removed. May have been rusted out or they may have used it for a project. The frame. wheels and surge brakes are prob worth the 400 bucks.
Not an unusual find. I broke a lot of tires down in my time in the Army and I found several flaps like you describe.
I think since the old tire had a flap a lot of inexperienced guys just reused it without thinking that there might be a new flap inside the tire.
I'll take that 1400x20 tire Dave. I'm not sure if I have anything left to pimp off. The Boss Lady will be bringing cookies (no charge).
If the chickens are still putting out we may have farm fresh eggs to sell. 2 bucks a dozen. Unlike me the eggs will have been laid recently.
I put mine in the passenger side window facing out. Never been stopped for a license plate violation but Alabama is more laid back than some states. You mileage most likely will vary.
Wrekerman's rule of thumb # 1: The only thing that lies more consistently than a career politician is a military vehicle fuel gauge. I never let a truck get below half a tank because Murphy is an opportunist.
Those who know me are following my progress in my movie endeavor.
My company, Black Creek Productions, is a movie logistics production company. I assist production companies and independent film makers in getting the resources they need to make movies in my area.

I have considered replacing the tactical tires on the M927A2 with the wide commercial super singles since I rarely take the beast off road. Those tires can be balanced and would have a lot less road noise.
I have put about 3000 miles on the M927 and the front tires are showing a lot of wear. I figure there is about 2000 miles left before they need replacing if the wear trend continues. I don't know if balancing would help but they have a lot of noise at highway speeds.
