I can provide power steering CHEAP & RELIABLE

This is a riot, All of you guys are screaming don't do it because of liability but in the very next sentence every one of you wants to know what parts, who supplies them and how is it done. In other words every one of you wants to build your own and not pay someone else. I do not even have a...

Suggestions Wanted! Your Input Is Welcome!

I was not questioning the action and you answered my question about the warning. If he was hacked then he will understand and it will be resolved. This site has a lot of people who like to push the limits and also has a LOT of pot stirrers. I do not envy the mods here. Rick

Good point, His posts up to that point were normal. I am sure there is more to the story that we do not see. If you use a public computer and do not log out others can have just that kind of fun with your accounts. Rick

I can provide power steering CHEAP & RELIABLE

You guys are amazing! Most of you want the kit but at the same time you are fighting with the guy and telling him there is no way he can do it that cheap. How the he!! do you know? You don't even know what he is doing. Several guess's have been made based on what is already out there but nobody...

I can provide power steering CHEAP & RELIABLE

Basically if it is a power assist then it should pass any inspection. If it is an orbital valve and hydraulic cylinder replacement then it will not pass in a lot of states. There has to be a mechanical connection from the steering wheel to the wheels. If you loose power to the steering you still...

    Outer wheel bearing explodes.

Ahhh, Navy and/or Air Force, that explains it.:twisted: And then you throw in engineer! Say no more.rofl I kind of figured since you got all the other stuff right that you probably got the seal right but just wanted to make sure. I have seen stranger things come through my shop. Rick

    Outer wheel bearing explodes.

Sounds like you installed the wheel bearing seal backwards. "open side outwards" would be backwards, the correct way is open side, with the spring around it, is facing in. Unless you are talking about the big soft rubber seal. That one has the flare facing out. Good writeup.;-)[thumbzup][thumbzup]

    Outer wheel bearing explodes.

If that bearing was that bad then it must have spun on the spindle. If this happened then there is going to be clearance there that should not be there. You have a good chance of it happening again if the bearing is not snug on the spindle. Also, If the wheel bearings are that bad than the...

    MVPA 2012 ALCAN Convoy sighting

Got a report from a friend of mine on the convoy that a M-151 rolled right in front of him yesterday. Trailer went off the road and down the embankment and pulled the Mutt over. Everyone was safe and they beat the windshield back into something that resembled normal and plugged in a piece of...

M1009 lift blocks up front instead of new leafs

As was already mentioned, NO. They are illegal and for good reason. Lift blocks are not designed for lateral strength. They will roll right out on a hard turn. Your buddy has been VERY, VERY lucky. When it happens, and it will, he WILL crash. Just hope no one else is involved. Rick

how do you pull the locking hub unit out?

If you do not have the mentioned tool a small screwdriver will pry it up to the point where you can get a medium screwdriver under it and pull it out. Spookfish, sand in the hub would also mean sand in the wheel bearing and the axle bearing in the back of the hub. Rick

NJ seeks to ban MV's in state forests

Note that you said "his office" called, not him. True, it is nice that someone is reading it but I believe that is called "screening" . Now, Will the senator actually see it? Rick

    New M151a2

You have a fairly rare version of the Ford built A2 with the straight cut front fenders. This was before the military decided to change the design which was done by Ford before AMG took over. There was a very short span that these were made with that fender style. Yes it is a 1970. Rick

death wobble.. Fixing it with the steering stabilizer?

One place you really have to watch is the race on the spindle. If that race has ever spun on the spindle then there is going to be play there also and the only repair is to replace the spindle.

death wobble.. Fixing it with the steering stabilizer?

I count a minimum of eight points. You have to count the king pins since they are part of the steering. Yes there are less points but much more mass. Caster angle on a solid axle is something that will not be out unless someone has screwed around with lifting the vehicle wrong. (shackles) If a...
