Seems this is a new one for SS. What if a member wants to set up a raffle for his/her truck. Does that count as a sale, is that against rules?
To me, it did not sound like a sales pitch, that is, trying to get beyond a fair price for an item.
If scrap price is 3K and he is willing to make a...
That's a brilliant idea and easy to set up. Count me in for a few tickets immidiately, maybe I'll get lucky (or at least we'll help save this truck from scrap).
Maybe SS should make an "emergency fund" or pawn shop for this kind of situations. (please don't react on this , I know it's another pipedream). How rare are those M55A2s actually?
The manual ...20P (parts) only shows parts numbers for the shutt-off valve, not for the cable.
The manual ...20 shows a perfect picture for the diesel, but something black and blurry for the multi-fuel (page 2-97). However, since they handle these things seperately, and the discripton is...
The tractor has the same wheelbase as the dump. That would be 167 inch. The M55A2 has the extra long wheelbase of 242 inch. Gives you a nice roomy condo sleeper of 75 inch, including whirlpool and sauna.
I like it (the tractor idea), would be a nice project for next year (When I am in the USA...
VTDeucedriver, your post "1968 M52A2 by Kaiser Jeep Corp", how did the truck got that brown color? It looks like a real color, and not the effect of some filter; all other pictures show the same truck in normal green?
Yep, changed an M51A2 into a street-legal M52, but your conversion should be even easier. My height over the 5th wheel now is about 119 cm (46.9"( if I remember correctly).
Basically, I used a civil 5th wheel with spacing plate (coffer dam profile). This picture shows details of how the...
Nice read. That is on heck of a beast. Now to find a place around here where you can actually use it for something like hauling rocks, pulling trees or as demolition truck for houses.
Edit: just finished the article. That must have hurt hard loosing a brand-new old engine just a month after you...
Time for the big brother to weigh in. It's nice to see our little brothers fight about who is better, nicer, bigger or more expensive. Waste of time, we are off course  :driver:  .
As to the orginal poster, we 5-ton people have a smilar problem. Half the time the Duece forum would...
No idea. The only problem might be how it is connected to the pump. The dash side can always be adapted or maybe relocated; the old one was half the time frozen and handled badly. Several times I needed additional tools to pull it out far enough, always in figh with the steering wheel, not an...
The engine stop cable on the M51A2 broke (multifuel engine). As usually, this happened just before I left for the Czech Republic and I did not had time to seriously look into it. Off course it is impossible to get orignal new ones here in the Netherlands quick auaauaaua
Can you use any old new...
Great idea, but still looks the weight is very much backward (I also read the thread about this). Maybe a trick like farm tractors here do or used to do: put some weight on the bumper?
I like the sleeper - double cabin trick. Seeing this, maybe a next project would be convert a normal cargo bed...
I like the idea of a small drainage hole maybe even with a tab on it. I just would leave it open permanantly so any water going into it will just go out, and the spilling of exhaust air will be minimal. That combined with some kind of can on top of it or this top which closes when standing but...
That is what I do not have in my head, how the exhaust goes. With the M51A2 (multifuel with airfilter on the right fender), I thought the exhaust did not go up but stayed horizontal until the turbo or am I wrong here.
As said, we had the wettest summer ever since they started measuring in...
