You just hit on a key item here! You said someone else stripped the nuts on the injectors, You are not the fist to have this problem with this gen-set!Someone else has been there done that. You need to do the flow timing, you have no idea what was done before and the button may not even have...
It already has a muffler. The noise you are hearing is not exhaust noise, it is engine noise. The fan, generator and the fact it is a diesel just make it noisy. If you stand in line with the exhaust outlet when it starts you will see that the exhaust is rather quiet.
I would put the old button in but before you run it do the calculation by flow to see if in fact it is in the right place. If you start it and the timing is retarded you will just get smoke but if it is too far advance you might be buying head gaskets!

Well, I used to own a 4X4 shop and I did a LOT of conversions. As a matter of fact I know quite a few guys that have bolted 1008 axles under their 1009's. The K30 came in both a 1 ton and 3/4 ton version. A lot of 3/4 ton trucks had the Dana 60 in front. Any truck with a plow package or camper...
I don't understand why there would be any fitment problems. This truck is a K30 Chevy, period. Any lift kit for a K30 will work just as it does on a civilian truck.

Gary, I am pretty sure it is the injection pump but I am going to rule out the easy stuff first. It is raining here today so I will not get anything done on it today. It does drop both cylinders at times. Being a long time mechanic I know the sound of no compression on cranking and I don't have...
It a diesel?!!!!! Dang, that would explain that funky smell in the gas.
Sorry Gimp, That is the best way to describe the sound I am getting.
Rosco, that is where I m headed also is the sticking valves, or a valve too tight and when it warms up it stays open a hair. When it stays open...
Gimpy, I will watch the rod on next startup but since it does smooth out and run real nice for about 20 seconds and starts the cycle all over again I would not think the rod is the problem. I have never been a fan of ATF in fuel, ATF has a lot of additives that will foul and wear injectors, it...
Did a search and could not come up with anything so here is my problem. MEP-002, starts and runs on one cylinder with other kicking in once in a while. Will eventually smooth out and run good only to almost die like a loss of fuel. Will not usually die but struggles to come back, spark knock for...
I watched a guy lose most of his finger this way. He was wearing gloves but the cable had a snag in it and caught the glove. They were tight gloves so he could not get out of it in time and his finger went between the fairlead and the cable. In a morbid way he was lucky there was a lot of...
If you running fuel back to the tank then the pump and filters are good and the issue is with the injection pump. Are you getting white smoke while cranking? If not then you are not feeding feul into the cylinder. Is the shutoff relay good and the shutoff solenoid releasing? That epoxy will not...
I am going to jump in here just to se where this goes. I do not have a CTIS but I have heard all the complaints and these are some very good questions.

51R is going to be about as close as you are going to get. They are a little shorter in length and a little narrower. I put a small strip of plywood lengthwise along the non terminal side to catch the tie down.

One thing on the clutch issue, I know it is a sore spot here but I consider this a safety issue. If you reach in and start it and it is in gear it will start and go. If it takes you by surprise it could run you over, that just happened around here recently. Modern vehicles have safety switches...
