Thanks for the offer John. I have been collecting parts for more than a year now. Little things like the rod that holds the rear seat folded up, the big bolt for the spare tire rack, a spare fuel cap, all black out lights, a slave plug cover, a heater fan switch chrome tip and I am not sure...
A stock steering wheel has a single wide spline that matches up with a wide tooth on the stock steering shaft. There is also a little mark on the steering wheel that matches up with a mark on the end of the steering shaft. Pull your horn cover and you can see the one on the shaft. Pull the...
He couldn't leave it alone now that it starts with key. He went back out while I was on here to drag a downed tree to the burn pile. That allowed me to get a picture. It also gave me an idea since he was "testing" the 4x4 system in a mud hole. I got behind the wheel with it in 4 low and...
I know everybody is waiting for an update on yet another M1009 build. So here it is.
Colton finished cleaning up the new(used) fuse panel and all the connectors. We got the rest of the old harness all the way out. The starter relay was swapped out for one that will work (doghead relay) and the...
If you had particles in the check valve, your IP is coming apart. Start planning for a replacement or rebuild. The stalling while coasting is another sign of it dying.
I worked on a M1010 that would idle great, but if you reved it up and let off real fast sitting still or let off while going down the road at 55, it would turn off. Filter, return valve, tank sock and lines were all checked. A new IP fixed it all.
$500 is what Stanadyne people around here...
If it won't start when hot, then you need to start looking at the IP solenoid. Turn the key on and pull the pink wire off the IP. You should hear it click both when you pull the wire and when you plug it back in. If not, then your solenoid is probably going and needs to be replaced.
10-15 minutes of idle isn't really enough to get a 6.2 to full temperature. However, it is enough to get it above 125 degrees. Which is what the glow plug sensor considers fully warmed up. So, if you are in the area of 125-180 degrees. Your engine won't really want to start. Just a hair of...
More than likely your problem is the bulb holders. Pull the gauge panel and run power to the tabs where the big plug goes for the lights you don't have working. Then, clean the contacts that are preventing them from working.
I know you are new. If you go to the CUCV section and go to "last"...
Put both leads of a volt meter on the front battery with the engine off. 12.6 volts is a fully charged battery at rest. You should have 12.0 or higher.
Start the engine and see what you have at the front battery. 14.4 volts is a full battery with a working alternator. With everything off...
Magic smoke release has been part of my life since before I could drive. Starting with British cars. The CUCV's are simple and easy in comparison. At least normally, a CUCV wire will actually go from point A to point B without 5 or 6 non insulated metal connections, the wires are covered in...
As posted above, it comes off and on with the key. However, you should be aware that 24 volts is present at the back of the gauge at all times. Such as when you pull the gauge cover and one of the gauge post hits metal. That is when you hope the very bottom fuse in the panel blows before any...
Nofearnohope had the same thing happen to him a few months ago during a parade. Yes, the military moved the brake switch from hydraulic to air actuated. The -20 talks about it some and the Ps magazine cartoons shows you what has to be done too.
Yep, you have "THE" clip to pull yet. I have had great success with a curved pointed tool that looks like a dentist should own it. The first time took close to an hour. Now, I don't even think about it and can even talk to people while I am pulling it out.
Jim,
I had the drip rails off the bomber in preperation of painting it. 4 months ago. We put them back on the weekend before the FTW trip. Mainly because they actually do help keep water out. I know, August in Texas, it isn't going to rain. However, just in case we did get rained on. I...
Marcus,
I am glad you weren't arguing with me. I put that disclaimer in there and in the original post just so nobody would start up that debate. It is kind of like going over to the G and asking if I should use "knuckle pudding" in a GPW. Something we all want to avoid reading.
Joe, I am...
