Well, I finally got something in return for having one of my vehicles at the disposal of a photographer. I took the Ferret (Saturday) and Deuce (Sunday) over to Advance Armaments. Looks like the owner is compensating all of us that brought ourselves and gear to the shoot with a free (doesn't...
So I bought some nice hella work lights from a local truck parts place that had them for $7 each. Looking around online seems like a good deal. Rubber mounted H3 bulbs. He even had 24 volt bulbs there at the store.
So, my plan now is to mount one facing rearwards under the bed and two facing...
So I'm going to try to make a set of cargo bed bows to go with my top. I found some dropside bed corners that I'll be using on my non-dropside bed. I grabbed those because they have the quick release pin and they were available.
What height do I need for the staves (vertical parts?). Obviously...
So I'm replacing my deuce fuel tank with a new one it came with. I'm sitting here in pain from bashing my left knee with a wrench in trying to get the bloody thing off. Initially it was all good, but the fitting was aimed slightly wrong I figured I could turn it slightly to get it lined up with...
As I've alluded to on past posts, I added a second Tool chest to my 5 Ton on the right side above the primary tool chest. I did this by removing the pioneer tool rack (never did find a good alternative location, though I was thinking about on the inside of the tailgate).
Anyhow, here's a photo...
Ok, so I went to pick up a trailer from a local MVer who has one for sale. We had various issues but the key one was that the Lunette eye wouldn't go over the pintle on my Deuce! He'd had it working on his and it had be ground down slightly to fit but my 2.5 ton won't take the lunette eye. So I...
Today I met with Dave and his son over at PDK airport and we swapped tools and kit off each other's trucks, pointed out various things on the other truck and filled out paperwork. He's now the proud (I hope) owner of a 5 ton and I'm the proud owner of a 2.5 ton.
I drove the 5 ton into work...
So I've mentioned looking at swapping my 5 ton for a Deuce. I looked at a friends Deuce this past weekend. It's a nice truck. David Schaeffer and his son Joe really seem to know their stuff. The truck is in really good shape. Its a M35 Cargo w the whistler turbo and Multifuel w/W. They've got a...
My M813 continues to have some random power problems on acceleration. The characteristics are that it looses power and becomes gutless for about 5-20 seconds and then gains power again. This is about the time that I hit the 3rd to 4th gear acceleration. Sometimes the RPMs stay up and float for a...
Well, I'm starting to think that I want to downgrade from my M813 to a deuce. I figure I can swap with someone out there that wants to upgrade plus get a bit of cash for other projects. The M813 just seems like too much truck for me. I get it out, get used to it a bit more on the road but still...
What have people used for sound/heat insulation in their deuces and 5 tons? I'm trying to get my M813 a bit more quiet for when I start to use it more.
Any preference for panels vs spray on foams? Did the bedliner material help?
What about boots for around the shifters and levers?
