    You need to check the trunion bearings. If they are loose you will have alot more side to side movement. (Under the round cap between the axles).

    As Gimp said, the problem is people don't know how they work and just jam them back in and strip the "lock". I'd replace the cable.

    I think he's thinking something like the angled rods that pin in the bedsides on a dropside but put them under the cab up into the bottom of the door.
