Anyone bid on "sealed bid" auctions?

Congrats on the chains. I am sure a few members here could use them all at once. The pics of trucks stuck in the middle of nowhere are abundant.

Problems with swapping oil in a 923/925 transmission with synthetic?

I have read a few times that Allison recommends ATF fluid and getting rid of the oil. I believe I recently read of a member that actually lost his low gears because of the thick oil and low temps. This was all read on this site BTW. Hopefully someone else can confirm this. I am subscribed...

    Tire Woes

In those temps soapy water isn't going to do much good in tracking down the leaks. Maybe soapy coolant? Never tried it but frozen soapy water isn't much good. There are o rings that should be replaced while you have it apart. I haven't had mine apart that far so I am not familiar with them...

    4 axle 5 ton??

Going up a hill would put a lot of stress on the added axle. In theory the added axle and it's independant spring set should be put in front of the existing axles. Really though the three axles should all pivot. I had a triple axle trailer where each axle had their own springs and a pivoting...

    Snow/Mud chains

They are a great investment. Four wheel drive is a basic requirement. I like to go beyond that. I know many people that don't even go that far. To each their own but I am a Boy Scout and like to be prepared for anything.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

These are just the cheapest off the shelf metal framed blades I found. I thought I would have to at least buy different bolts but the factory hardware worked fine. I just bent the frames of the wipers a little so they would bolt up properly. As you can tell hopefully one side is inside the...

First post, First truck, Lost puppy

Yes, and it is pretty simple to do. Kits are available if you want to go that route. I have a 923a2 and am very happy with it. It is very simple to work on and diagnose. It is my first and only (so far) MV. The 923s seem to be the most available style.

    Adding a winch

The cable balling up on the drum is birdcaging. If you don't pull the cable out as fast as the winch is powering out it can happen. It also can happen if you free spool the cable out and the drum doesn't stop when the cable does.
